One virtual game that may be a fun attention getter for students is GeoGuesser. You could play a version of this where you drop the pin somewhere where something important happened in history then give the students facts about this event and they have to guess where they are on the map.

Virtual games are numerous and free. During my observation, the students managed to stay focused on games, even if they were educational.

I suggest having the students use technology to create documentaries. It would be a engaging and educational way to incorporate technology into the history classroom.

Gamification can be really effective with students of all ages. It is also probably very effective to use some technology resources to help create projects where students can do independent research

Using interactive games would be great to use when it comes time to study for an exam. You can use matching terms, crossword puzzles, etc. Students are all for games so why not make it a little fun for them.

Any kind of virtual game is a good way to enhance learning. I use something simple like key terms and definitions to help engage my students. They like learning in new, fun ways.

However, now there are numerous choices for virtual field trips. For example, you are able to have a 360 degree immersion virtual tour of Machu Pichu.

Thank you to everyone for their contributions regarding social studies. I am a social studies teacher, and I am constantly looking for social studies content. Unlike the other core subjects, social studies seems to get the short stick every time in regards to resources. I like to use IXL because you can see the standards, both state and national, that you can assign to students to learn skills. I also found Primary Games. It looks informative and engaging, and it seems to have a lot of games and activities for students.

There are virtual tools to tour through a museum (the Smithsonian has one) and other tourist sites. You can play digital games either by themselves or as a group, they are too numerous to list off, however, we have covered a few in class, sites like PBS also offer digital activities.
