The important thing to know is by month, what vaccines should each child receive. So if someone comes to you and says they have gotten all of their shots up to 3 months what shots have they received?

There are only a few vaccine questions and I think they are pretty fair so dont spend too much time on this.

It is important to know that they get their first dose at 2 months. They can get the second at 3 months. And then a booster between 12-15 months.

• I would just know that children should get a yearly flu shot.

When do we give the 2 dose series of HeP A? 12-23 months

• correct 12-23 months with at least 6 months in between

When do we give the HPV vaccine? 11-12 years

• Correct, This is what the CDC recommends. This one has a little more wiggle room.

This is a hot topic and the guidance has changed back and forth a bit. Currently the CDC says that a child under 12 months should not have juice.

Some pediatricians may say that from 6-12 months they can have 4oz of juice but it must be diluted as 50% juice, 50% water.

The main concern with too much juice or water for a child is that it is not a calorie dense fluid to meet their metabolic demand. Additionally the sugar in juice creates a risk for dental caries.

Personally, I dont see the benefit of giving a child under 12 months old diluted juice.

For your exam it is safe to say that avoiding juice under 12 months is recommended as that is the CDC guidance.

For instance, Fifth disease is also called erythema infectiosum.
