Movie Review - Paulette

Paulette lives alone in a social neighborhood and receives a lean retirement, with which she has difficulty reaching the end of the month. One night she realizes the strange business that takes place in her building and that's when she decides to go on sale of hashish, and since she was once a famous confectioner, she will find original ways to start a new career.
"In spite of all the hilarious situation presented to us in Paulette, there are other, more serious, themes that arise in the midst of all the laughter. Racism, discrimination and prejudice or the difficulties that many people go through to pay bills or even to eat. Too serious a tone never comes into the picture, but the issues are left in the air, where a certain realism is evident, making us reflect."

Paulette, a woman full of prejudice ends up seeing herself in a web of ironies: she lives in a social neighborhood, despite always maintaining her posture chic; his old pastry shop is now a Japanese restaurant and his daughter married a black man. Although she always wants to maintain an apparent social status, she ends up engaging in less legitimate business.

And the protagonist's interest lies in all this. A determined woman, but cold, full of prejudices and who prefers to appear to be what she is not. Her relationship with her grandson and how she develops along the way is another of the points of interest, as well as the union between Paulette and her three friends who provide us with very funny moments. The main character stands out still more for the courage that shows to stop when getting involved in the business of drug trafficking in order to have a better life.

Music Festival🌊

Music festivals are great. We all know that. Even if it's not because of the actual music we all like to have fun with friends and share good moments. I remember the first big music festival I have been to with tears of joy and sadness. It was in the summer of 2016 when I decided I wanted to go see Sia performing live in MEO Sudoeste. This music festival takes place in Azambujeira do Mar every year and 2016 was no exception. I was already in love with Sia's vocals and songs that time and as soon as I watched the TV add of Sia's show in Portugal I immediately started inviting friends to come see her with me. But my friends weren't that way inclined. I couldn't miss the queen of pop show. This way I decided to go by myself. Just me. The idea of going alone wasn't scary, at all, I had been flying abroad by myself a couple of times before. Taking a bus to this Festival was just another adventure.
Of course I couldn't tell my parents I was going by myself, so I just made up a catchy story saying I would go with 3 more friends. It was easy.
Sia started her show with her, that time, newest single "Alive" and I wasn't sure if I could keep myself alive beacuse she was killing it. It was a "magic moment". From the dancers till her perfect voice. It was a dream come true. But the show took fast and I had to hurry to take the bus back home. A huge field of distracting activities, food, people, clothes and the Ferris wheel got me late. I ended up missing the bus. I've been hours crying and wondering how would I get through it. I had no battery on the cell phone. There was no way to be in touch with my parents. It was when I was standing at the roadside that I see a car coming my direction and start waving in order to stop and ask for help. I immediately ask for a phone and call my mum. This boy inside the car took me to the nearest town centre so that I could stay and have services like restaurants to eat and sit for the long waiting for my parents.
There I met a boy called João, he was having lunch at a McDonalds restaurant. He had also been to Sia's concert and we rapidly started having a fandom conversation about Sia and her songs. But the real coincidence was that he was also waiting for his parents and he also had lied to them. We were both in the same situation. The exact moment he tells me about it I laugh so loud. We became friends and promised never again to go to a music festival without our parents permission. It took 3 hours for my parents to pick me up.
It was a marvellous day with ups and downs just like Sia's career. It was a lesson in every way.
