During her childhood, she and her sibling were separated at different relatives houses due to their father’s unpredictable behaviour. While she lived with her Aunt and Uncle she became the governess to their children. When she was 24 she felt free to leave her family and took charge of Fathers Woods school in 1866. When she took the title “of the cross” she walked in faith. When she joined the sisters of St Joseph she had to follow the four different rules which are 1. Live poorly, owning nothing in their right 2. Depend on Divine Providence for their subsistence 3. Go wherever they were needed 4.
