What are some of the pitfalls that kids using social media need to watch out for?
1. One is those terms of agreements documents! READ them. They could say, by signing this you allow us to take your money and all your belongings. READ them.
2. Location, location, location. Keep it off! With location on, someone could easily find you.
3. When some site asks for crazy, personal info, don't give it away. Hey you won a million dollars! In order for us to mail you the check, we need your full name, credit card number, address, P.O. box, phone number, and Social Security number. "Great! I'll do it!" NO!

Is the average 6th grader ready to handle the responsibility of posting to social media? Explain with details/examples, but NO SPECIFIC NAMES!

I think that the average 6th grader is ready for social media but at the same time not. I don't think that the average 6th grader should have 5 social media accounts at once. I think the average 6th grader should have one social media account that could go private. They definitely shouldn't have Snapchat, since they could be sending inappropriate stuff to their friends. Something private would be better because, there parents can control who is seeing what their children post.

What are some of the pitfalls that kids using social media need to watch out for?
1. A lot of times identity thieves try to steal kid's identity and social security numbers for false advertisements.
2. So many kids don't read the user agreements and just click the agree button. Sometimes, hackers try to put things buried in the middle of those long agreements and use it to hurt you.
3. Kids sometimes post things that shouldn't be posted like inappropriate videos and pictures. Many kids should be more important about what they post online, once you push send, you can't take it back and a lot of people have access to it now.
Is the average 6th grader ready to handle the responsibility of posting to social media? Explain with details/examples, but NO SPECIFIC NAMES!
I would tend to say that most sixth graders shouldn't be on many social media websites because what they post could potentially hurt their digital footprint and make them regret what they posted. However, I think that if it is a very mature child and decides to be mature and smart about what they post. I think that the decision is ultimately up to your parents and what they believe would be right for you and your future.
