Connection to Management

This book's connection to management comes from the 12 rules it speaks about. The 12 rules are all that help you do self-work and learn more about who you are as a person. Rather than just following aimless rules generalized for the population that isn't tailored to any sort of individuality, he gives simple rules for everyday life. My favorite was in chapter 2, which is to treat yourself like someone you are responsible for helping. His book aims to direct an acknowledgment of one's self and self needs in order to address your own issues with techniques to manage yourself.

Important Quote

“To stand up straight with your shoulders back is to accept the terrible responsibility of life, with eyes wide open. It means deciding to voluntarily transform the chaos of potential into the realities of habitable order. It means adopting the burden of self-conscious vulnerability and accepting the end of the unconscious paradise of childhood, where finitude and mortality are only dimly comprehended. It means willingly undertaking the sacrifices necessary to generate a productive and meaningful reality.”

Management Take Away

Balancing chaos and order

“Order is not enough. You can’t just be stable, and secure, and unchanging, because there are still vital and important new things to be learned."

This was the best quote in regard to Management and the need for ingenuity. If management deems a path and rules that come to a certain outcome, but don't allow for adjustment to new industry changes, or competition, that management fails their employees.
