         <description><![CDATA[<div>Born in June 26 1853 and died in June 24 1943, Evans was a British photographer known for his images of architectural subjects such as English and French cathedrals. in the late 1880s Evans first advocated for a pure photography, known later as Straight photography, as a viable alternative to pictorialism by creating  symbolist images that evoked the meaning suggested by architectural forms. Born on March 24, 1886 in Chicago and moved to California he was influenced by Alfred Stieglitz to create his work following straight photographs though he stated that his style of "Straight" photography could not deal successfully with landscape.
