Tubman is determined to help the escaped slaves reach Canada, even though she does not know the route very well; she's never traveled it before. On top of not knowing the route, Tubman is also leading her largest group ever, and one of the first stops on the Underground Railroad turns her and her group away, leaving them to fend for themselves in the cold. Even when the odds were definitely not in her favor, Tubman persevered with her group, risking both her life as well as theirs as they make the perilous journey. Tubman does not give up, and is relentless, and will not give up until she reached her goal, which was to get the eleven fugitive slaves and herself to Canada to be free. She constantly put her life on the line to help others escape to freedom, demonstrating unwavering determination and loyalty. Throughout her lifetime, she travelled to and from Maryland in order to lead slaves to freedom; and she made all the difference for the thousand or so slaves that made it to freedom in the North under her guidance.
