At midnight we go to the midnight mass in the church. We also eat a carp – a fish on this day. We sing carols and sit next to the Christmas tree. 25-26th December are national holidays.

We have parties, prepare snacks, dance, meet friends and have fun. At midnight we display fireworks. 1st January is a bank Holiday and we do’t go to school.

It’s not  free day, but men give flowers and chocolates to women and they are really kind to them on this day. Tulips are  really popular. And on the 10th of March it’s the men’s day. We don’t give them flowers but small gifts.

The symbol of this feast are Easter eggs – painted or dyed eggs and chicks. We prepare cakes, usually poppy seed cakes and mazurek and we go to church before Easter to bless the food in baskets. We decorate house with catkins.
