Successful implementation of AD is key to this goal as it provides diverse pathways toward the requirements for graduation with a focus on maintaining the expectations through adapting material in place of modification of materials.

A classroom is made up of all different kinds/ types of learners. So it is inevitable that students with disabilities will be a part of that classroom. In order to actually live by an "all means all" mindset, we have to reach ALL learners. The AD plan allows us to reach all learners.

Every student at CA is entitled to a full education and the opportunity to earn a diploma. The plan removes obstacles in the way of some of our students by allowing them to achieve in a fashion best suited for their skills.

I think that April Dunn's story and her philosophy align perfectly with that of Collegiate Academies. Essentially, both A.D. and C.A. are trying to achieve the same goal, which would be that any student can achieve academic success, despite any roadblocks presented! The fact that C.A. even has a "Special Designed Instruction" position speaks to the importance placed on tailoring academic approaches to the individual needs of all students.

Collegiate Academies' mission is to prepare all students, regardless of learning differences, for post high school success. The work of the April Dunn Act reflects this mission because it supports hardworking students who struggle to excel on standardized tests. The successful implementation of an April Dunn plan proves that a student with a disability can demonstrate mastery.

An April Dunn plan ensures that students have EVERY opportunity to demonstrate mastery of rigorous content. We believe that EACH student can achieve ambitious goals that will prepare them for college and post-secondary options, so we don't let a standardized testing become a gatekeeper for students with disabilities. Rather, we provide multiple means for students to access curriculum and demonstrate their mastery.
