The first steps to creative thinking

My long term goal is to become a video game artist/writer. Ive played VG's as a child and even now as an adult, my experience with them have given me many stories and many ideas of how a story is told and how stories should start. I started looking into creating games when I was thirteen, videos on YouTube showing and explaining how coding works. I was very confused and a little overwhelmed, I wanted to try regardless. After many trial and error on making my first video game

I had stop because I absolutely no idea what my story was so I pulled an old story I wrote as a kid and based my first creation on "Turrleling Robots". I had wrote a mix of TMNT and Hole. My first stories I had ever written were back when I was eight, I would watch movies and cartoons and write a story based on two separate stories and combine them to make something very confusing but intriguing enough to read. I did this for many years until when I was 14 when I decided that I wanted to make up my own story, for the longest time I never really enjoyed my stories at first. However as time went on and I went through many pencils and stacks of paper, I had realized that my stories started to make sense and have a much more clear depiction. My writing had improved even without realizing it and it made me very curious, what other type of stories could I write? Why stop writing? How can I get these stories to feel real?

This was the question that gave a real purpose to strive for, make my stories to games, making my stories both a learning experience and a story you go through yourself. In conclusion This is why I know failure is part of the journey that writes all of our stories.

The best way to use quotations in dialogue is to use it when either you are referencing a book, movie or even a moment in life; you must use quotes when setting up the sentence. For example, let me fix the meme you see at the top.The meme you see is actually ment to say "He said 'The spark between us was gone' So I tased him."

The best way to explain Apostrophy is when you are shortening your sentences to reach your conclusion much more quickly, however you are still explaining your full sentence. take the meme you see for an example. One sentence was said as the full truth but from different perspectives it sounds different and explained differently, however its all on the same topic; complimenting someones work.

( their was almost nothing for grammar memes)

For another example on how to use apostrophes is " I cannot go to the store because I forgot to fill my car with gas before I got home." Instead it could say " I can't go to the store, since I didn't fill up my gas tank before I'd went home."

My mind is never tired, I've always wanted to learn; curiosity is my maiden name. I was born with ADD ( Attention Deficient Disorder)

their was never a dull moment in my life; either I would read a book; silently with very little to no motion as if I was still sniper capable of staying motionless on command, but mentally I was doing this on accident; practically did this as if it was a normal reflex, Thinking about it now it was hardwired.Reading was my secret delight, I only had books my mother got from the thrift store so all I had was "where's Waldo or school books. So normally I chose to read the books with actual writing, Hours would go by and I was reading about science or algebra books; but nothing ever really stuck with me. I practically stared at the books instead of taking in the knowledge, reading was practically just a 'boredom tool', so instead I seeked out to fill my boredom with "activities" such as running around, as if I was a loose cannon; unpredictable when a loud burst would erupt. All of this took place when I was a child from the ages of seven to nine; before learning I was a visual learner and a hands on experience, learner. Some of my fondest memories as a child was watching my uncle play video games; most were about realism and survival types of games.

My uncle had a favorite video game known as "Far cry 3" this game specially was ment to bring people who were interested in outdoor survival game types; My uncle was one of them. This game specifically stood out because it was an all action in your face, insanely quick, adrenaline fueling game that was on the market at the time. This game brought me both into the video game world and the medical world because of two main reasons; The story telling and the way you play this game is what made me want to play video games, however "Far cry 3" had a special mechanic that makes it so much more different then most outdoor survival games, "The healing mechanic." This in game mechanic had a system where depending on how you damaged; depends on how you heal. The most common example I can tell you is "fall damage"

from a height of 10 feet and above, if you fall you take damage, normally whenever I fell in this game I would be shown a healing animation. This one in particular is where you dislocate your wrist and have to relocate and pull it back into place! As a child I was very disgusted, the feeling to me was as if chewing on Styrofoam but my entire body felt it and seeing this sent chills down my spine and stomach practically making me nearly throw up. My uncle was curious and asked " Are you okay? Do you need water!" she seemed concerned and frightened at the same time "No Im okay, but is that real?" I asked him with tears in my eyes from holding back the vomit in my throat. My uncle responded "whats real?" quickly I pointed to the television "The thing he did with his hand" my uncle gave me a nod and calming smile " Yes, in case you ever fall and land wrong, without breaking it you can do that with any part of your body."

My face went pale and jaw opened with disbelief, "Ew that gross" I said with a shrugged face as if I had been handed my least favorite food in the world, disgusted at the sound of this news I asked my uncle a question I would later learn in life."Does it hurt?" "Oh yeah, it hurts a lot." Time passes until I was thirteen; I had gone to the book store with my mother and I was told to get at least three brand new books at a higher reading level. I strolled through the tiny store, located in the middle of a street market were there are multiple stores in along row next to a 4 lane street going north and east if you were outside about to take a left to go into the book store. The store as soon as you walked in was almost the size of garage that would fit maybe three trucks, but in its place was books. The aroma was old paper and dust bunnies, almost like a gas but in papers on shelves. I glanced around and looked low, since I was short, nothing amused me until I found a book about the human body. I looked over next to it and found a book on bones, I instantly grabbed both books. At home I went to my room and started to open up the book on the human body; later on I showed my uncle the book and asked him all the questions I could about "Fixing dislocations" and since my uncle was so proud that I was curious about something other then videogames. The next day my grandfather had come home from work and called me out to see something he had brought. I was handed a "Kneeboard" imagine a triangle; with bike handbags at the tip end and two pads on the bottom of the triangle then flip the board over and put one wheel on each of the three corners of that triangle. Then you have a kneeboard, confused and curious I took it outside and began to push with my left leg while holding on to the handle bars and my right leg on the pad of the board. I rode this for nearly a year and a half until one day; I took my kneeboard down the hill of my neighborhood. The hill was at a slight slope nothing super crazy, however this slope was more then enough to catch speed at maybe 15-20 miles an hour; fast enough to crash. I stood at the top of the sidewalk looking down, filled with determination and excitement since I had always wanted to go super fast but never could because I always rode on my driveway and street which was "flatground"

so the most speed I had ever gone through before the hill was my own speed. Maybe two miles an hour. I laced my helmet as tight as I was allowed to breath; I crouched down with almost nothing infront of me but a clear sidewalk as a passage to vicious speed; all I could hear is my heart beating, then I did one push,my heart was pounding and all I could feel was wind building up in my nose and my eyes squinting even with my glasses, I could count the line of the sidewalk.

1.........2........3......4.....5....6...7..8.9

Looking down I was seeing the lines vanish into grey pavement, then I looked up. I could tell I was already half way and going more quickly then I actually wanted to, panicked because I misunderestimated how quick I would move downhill. My excitement turned to fear and adrenaline overload, I came closer and closer to the end of the hill; and it then I saw something that made me go pale in the face. My neighborhood was on a hill that had an intersection at the bottom. I saw a blue pickup truck stop at the light and not just any truck; this was my uncles truck.I was faced with certain doom with a truck and my uncle lecturing me, so I hit the brakes, however I neglected to hit both sides of the brakes and to do it slowly. The left side of the kneeboard was instantly halted and the right side of the board was "loose as a goose" instantly was sent a full ninety degrees and was thrown off the board on the sidewalk and rolled me into the street and unfortunately, since the height difference between a truck and a kneeboard is incredibly different; my uncle made the right turn, Granted he was only looking out for other cars and not me, however he heard the sound of a wheels sliding and skidding on the sidewalk and also the asphalt, my uncle slammed the brakes just in time. Since I was going so fast I had rolled my body three times until I slammed my hand and head oh the front right tire, I survived but not unscathed. I had landed my right hand a bad angle and dislocated my thumb and had bump and bruise on my forehead. My uncle got out of the car shouting my name in complete horror to see if I was okay "ADRIAN ARE OKAY!" I looked up with a slight groan and squinted eyes "Im good, I'm good, I'm go- I looked at my thumb and it was floppy and crooked like a lobster tail "its dislocated" my said silently under his breathe. I was in total shock until he said that, intantly I calmed down; the shock from seeing this was what kept me calm and out of pain for the moment, I looked at my uncle who looked like he had seen a ghost, his face was pale, I looked back at my hand; grabbed my thumb and pulled forward and extended my hand. POP. as I heard the pop I was then scared by "NO STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING" jumping out of my skeleton I looked back at my uncle who had his hands over his head and his jaw dropped, I then lifted my hand; made a fist, opned my palm, made another fist, looked back at my uncle and said

" HA look just like far cry!"

I took the knowledge and visual learning to fix my hand! My uncle in total shock said nothing for a genuine ten seconds before saying "It doesn't hurt?" expanding his hands wide open in confusion. The moment he finished that sentenced it was almost like the shock and adrenaline rush were replaced with sharp needles and jabs to my joint, palm and wrist. My face dropped and instantly started crying.

My uncle grabbed me and brought me home. He then proceeded to carry me into the house; place me on the kitchen table and hold my hand while calling out for the family to tell them what happened. While simultaneously keeping me calm, laughing, keelping my thumb is properplace and holding ice, my uncle told everyone what had happened.I was given ibuprofen and a cheap thumb cast my uncle had when he used to play sports ( we have many casts for arms to this day but never once did a leg injury occurred) I then was taken to the hospital to check to see if anything was wrong.I was placed in the back seat laying down, all I could see was the ceiling since I wanted to move as little as possible. On the way back down the hill we made a sudden stop, "what's wrong?" my uncle got out of the car for a few seconds then came right back, I looked left and heard this "I don't want to leave your board to get stolen." "Oh thank you"

when secretly I wanted to tell him to leave it where it was. This was my origin story as to why I learned and experienced how to fix dislocations.

When I was a child a the age of seven, curious, eager, and wild; resembling a ferocious and rabid wolf. Constantly looking for the next adventure, craving for the next moment to rise. I was in the living room one day; sitting on my butt in the center of the room with the couch against the wall and the table scooted to the side against the pane doors which let beams of sunlight, a calm and peaceful moment. When all of sudden a loud burst came from the front door, resembling a lightning strike hitting a tree. Completely terrified I looked over and was only able to see under the kitchen table, all I saw was big black boots moving quickly and from around the corner; was my uncle with the biggest smile on his face holding a white box. By jumping over me like jumping over a tire and nearly kicking me in the head; he lands making the ground leaving behind a shockwave you could only feel if you were sitting on the floor like I was, however the loud smack on the ground could be heard from the outside of the house. "YES.YES.YES.YES" my uncle said repeatedly while fumbling the box; almost as if 'saying yes' would open the box somehow. My uncle glanced at me and looked concerned, almost as if my face had gone pale. “You okay buddy?”my uncle said with slight of fear “Yes. you scared me a little” I told my uncle hold back tears like dam holding a rivers weight of water; my uncles face slightly looked less concerned but still worried. “Im sorry, im just super excited because I finally got a playstation!”A playstation 2, the first console and my first gaming experience was three years down the line. I was always told to not touch it or play on it, consider the fact that I broke nearly everything in my house once at the bare minimum.

So I was always gazing at the television; watching my uncle play multitudes of games, Call of Duty 3, Dragon ball z budakai,Grand theft auto 3 and Naruto ultimate ninja 3. These childhood memories created my interest of video games and made me into a a gamer. This origin story is the main reason I got into video game design since I was so curious to learn how these games are made and It made me wonder; how long does it take to create a game?

The outside world was my video game and my bike was the controller; just like peanut butter and jelly, they were ment to be. I was always outside, embracing the sun and the clear sky daily, so often so it was practically my daily pill; to be outside and free. My mother came home one day from target and called my name to show me something. It was a bright red tricycle; however it wasn't a regular tricycle, it was a lightning McQueen tricycle. My face exploded with excitement and yet I was scared, I had no idea how to ride a bike but my mom was more than willing to teach me. After a few minutes being taught and a few falls off the sidewalk later I was shown how to work the tricycle properly. After Hours of mindless riding in the neighborhood later. I was finally done.Completely fatigued and dehydrated I ran to the cabinet and grab a glass to drink water out of, my thirst for water; was the same as if a fish fell out of the ocean. I repeated this daily for two years, then I outgrew the bike and stopped riding completely.Until a few months went by and my mom bought me a new bike from Walmart, at first sight I hated it because of two main reasons; it was much bigger and a lot more difficult to get on and ride around. The second reason I did not like it was because it was my least favorite color; puke green, and not any puke green it was also a very shiny bike, I was basically the human equivalent of a lighthouse; riding around with the sun blinded people since I was such a bright beacon of light. cars driving by would swerve and honk by while driving during the day; this also included people on the sidewalk, enjoying their day until a bright green radiant light come by and blinds them.

This made me not want to ride around but at the same time I was also desperate to get out and about, so for everyones safety I stayed indoors and for a while I was happy until one day when I was seven, sitting in the living room, when all of a sudden; a loud burst came in scaring me.

This was my third origin story that got me from being outside to being an indoor person, but this change was the spark that gave me the curiosity to be on the path I am today to be a video game designer. Be honest did this story make you want to go outside more? or come back inside?

Costumes. Something that defines your character and creating moments from the mind to real life. I always enjoyed dressing up as a stormtrooper and acting out scenes from Star Wars movies. However I did this with almost any story I enjoyed; mostly from movies but a good portion of them are from games too. Ninja, soldier, knight, you name it I at one point I did my best to dress like a character into real life.

I asked Gemini from google to "explain How my costumes from different characters makes a story from paper come to life."

I was given this as feed back.

"That's a really cool question! Costumes bring characters to life by physically embodying their traits, personalities and stories. When you wear a costume, your are not just putting on clothes; your are stepping into the shoes of a character from a story. The costume can communicate a lot about who the character is, even before you say a word."

This, to me was very surprising; I was skeptical about this whole this because I don't enjoy using ai. However this quote resonated with me because I never saw this perspective on costumes in general!

This ted talk by David H Rosmarin is about how to deal and overcome your anxiety. We as humans in the modern world were anything can happen; anxiety is one of the most common feeling more most people. The best way to overcome anxiety is to face it, head on. In order to make anxiety your friend you first need to figure out what it is your anxiety is so overstimulated.

The next thing you must do is you have to express your anxiety because holding it in only makes it worse for yourself and it builds your anxiety. Once you have done that you have to embrace your anxiety, almost like a double negative, the only way to eradicate your worst nightmare is to not see it as a nightmare and make it into a a positive scenario. After those three steps you can now finally let go; forget about your anxiety and move forward with much more strength in your mental power.

I wanted to research how to be healthier, I was motivated to dive into health and make myself a healthier person. However I didn't know where to start but I had an idea, video games, That's where I found the ted talk on how a video game can give you an extra ten years of life. This is an all exercise game that make you move and the more you play the more you work out and the more you extent your life. After that I found another story called don't work out play a video game instead. It inspires the Virtual Reality system that is based on movement and creates your workout as you go through the days. However I kept wondering about mental health and how social health is the most moral boosting mental healing you can give yourself and how it can change another persons life and impact a chain of people.

https://www.ted.com/talks/jane_mcgonigal_the_game_that_can_give_you_10_extra_years_of_life?referrer=playlist-talks_on_how_games_can_improve&autoplay=true

https://www.ted.com/talks/cosmin_mihaiu_physical_therapy_is_boring_play_a_game_instead

https://www.ted.com/talks/kasley_killam_why_social_health_is_key_to_happiness_and_longevity

The heart and soul of creating a video game are needed to have a creation come to life in the form of a video game. However a new point of view is how the game can be mentally affected towards the people playing the game. Research has shown me that people that took games and reviewed them based on the type of game and how it was played. This Is based off the article The quality of video games. Take Minecraft for an example; it's a game about being creative and letting your mind go wild and make anything from scratch! Need for speed is all about driving as past as possible with minimal crashes. Then theirs also survival games; these feed into our primal instinct in order to survive back then can be applied to modern day life styles. I personally like to refer to "Green Hell" set in a jungle boom where you take genuine survival and medical training based off real people to professionally survive in the wilderness.

Works cited

Front Range Community College

FRCC-Research database

Colorado Community College Online Library (CCCOL)

Main Source

https://research-ebsco-com.ccco.idm.oclc.org/c/fwwoyg/search/details/q6t54rfspv?limiters=RV%3AY%2CFT%3AY&q=creating%20a%20video%20game%20

1st source:

"VideoGame Design"

-The quality of Videogames

https://research-ebsco-com.ccco.idm.oclc.org/c/fwwoyg/search/details/jax5xet3mv?limiters=RV%3AY%2CFT%3AY&q=DE%20%22Video%20game%20design%22

week 8 the CRAAP test. Critical reading

The CRAAP worksheet is simplifying how to create your essays with the perfect amount of information , it's a step by step on how to correctly put your information and have your work make sense with the amount of authors. The steps by the CRAAP worksheet is asking questions on how to create a proper paragraph for all the information you gathered from can be linked and credit can be placed where it is deserved; However it is also a clear sign and indication that all the information is both not plagiarized and it determines if the information is real or if the information that was obtained was opinion or hypotheses. Comparing the CRAAP worksheet and lateral reading is two different guides, CRPWS is based on making a fully informed and work being cited as you write. Lateral reading is creating a segment by segment info, cited websites then it has you create the detailed information. The importance of doing a CRPWS making sure all the boxes were checked and making sure the source is reliable and true to what the information stored is both real and factual. The only true comparison between CRPWS and lateral reading is the fact that these two are after the same method; creating a perfect paragraph.
