In Alice in Wonderland, there is a large array of colors that are used. These colors range from muted tones, to bright and vibrant colors. When Alice is in her home world, there are very limited colors that include whites, blues, beiges and silvers. Once she has fallen into the hole, the colors black, white and brown are seen all throughout the first room she is in. Once she has opened the door, many colors are seen including red, green, yellow, and orange. The change in the color palette signifies Alice leaving her world and entering a more "magical" world.

Coraline
In Coraline, especially in the beginning of the movies, there is very little color seen except for the color that is seen on Coraline. Her bright blue hair and yellow raincoat and boots are a major contrast with the dark and depressing background. It isnt until she travels to the "other world" that more color is introduced. Once she has traveled to the "other world" more colors are seen in the house she is in and the clothing that is worn by the other characters. In this version on Alice in Wonderland, Alice fall through a hole when following the rabbit and is faced with a deep "tunnel" to another world. As she is going down this whole, there are many objects that are seen. She hits bookcases, books, furniture, light, portraits and even a piano on her way down. It seems to be a very long and deep hole as she is continuously falling for about 45 seconds. 

Coraline
In Coraline, the tunnel to another world is through the small door. Once Coraline has opened the door, we can see that it is a long tunnel that is colored with a mix of blue, purple and pink. Alice in Wonderland
The characters in Alice in Wonderland all have their own specific looks that include pops of color. The Queen of Hearts can be seen with red hair and a red dress, but the pop of color comes from her blue eye shadow. The Mad Hatter can be seen wearing a mostly brown and green outfit, but the pop of color comes from his pale white face and his red hair. The Cheshire Cat is seen as a grey cat with bright blue eyes and blue streaks of hair. These characters specific features and color schemes can make these characters memorable and can add to the mysterious and wacky feel of the movie.

Coraline
In Coraline, her mom and dad are seen as dull and darker tones and this can show how Coralines thinks that they are boring. In this version of Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton, 2010), gender stereotypes are seen heavily in the beginning of the story. As this story is set in the 1800s, the women are seen as inferior to the men and have the more traditional roles in the households. Gender stereotypes are also portrayed through clothing which is seen in the beginning of this movie. While dancing with Hamish, Alice states "I had a sudden vision of all the ladies in trousers and the men wearing dresses." To which Hamish replies with "I think you'll do best to keep your visions to yourself. When in doubt, remain silent." This shows how the more traditional gender roles and stereotypes are portrayed in this film.

Coraline
In Coraline, the characters go against the typical gender stereotypes. Coraline's mother is seen as "the boss" of the house while her father is seen as inferior and less than her mother. In the film, Coraline has to defeat the evil version of her parents to make it back to her good, normal parents. In my life, I feel like there is flaws in a lot of people, including myself that you have to overcome, to see the good. A lot of people see flaws in others, and judge them based off that. Its kind of like they saying that the grass isnt always greener on the other side because I feel like a lot of people now and days especially myself think that doing something that makes you happy will last longer. Like in coraline she thought that her other parents were going to make her happy in the long run but little did she know that they were evil and not make her happy. When I was younger, I used to always look around and see what the other kids had and wish that I could live their lives. A lot of jealousy came from this mindset and I became very unhappy with the life that I was living. After growing more, I understand that I am very fortunate to have the things that I have and am very fortunate to live how I do now.
