The topic to this day hasn't been covered as much as it should, awareness must be brought to the world.

Vulnerable teenagers are targeted all throughout ones community.Teenagers are seen as the most vulnerable, considering that at that age they currently undergoing changes and difficulties. Human Trafficking: Labor Trafficking in Teenagers in the Unites States is overlooked. Many citizens choose to believe that it only happens in third world countries.
Labor trafficking has changed through the course of years due to the fact that the culprits have found efficient ways to advance this sort of action. 

This research is important because labor trafficking is at times before our eyes and many don't recognize the signs or have little to no knowledge of it. This carries significant importance because I have a family member who is a victim of labor trafficking. This individual was affected at the age of 16. It is important to bring awareness to this topic and to inform our community of such horrific actions that occur on a daily basis. To think of what these teenagers have to go through, the pain and suffering that they go through is life-changing. We say teenagers, but in the eyes of the parents, they are their "child", a beloved child who was separated from their family at an early age. 

I hope to obtain more knowledge on Labor Trafficking,  to learn about the trauma, and of more ways to bring more awareness of what the victims and the families go through. Including learning of ways in which labor trafficking may be prevented. In order to help pave a secure future for generations to come.

Upon analyzing the article I was quite clear that the author's purpose is to shed light on such crucial conflict that the immigrant workers are going through while in the agriculture industry. To bring awareness is the main purpose, many may see on the news the struggles that they may go through, but in reality, they only see the surface. Considering that this conflict goes much deeper than what is shown. The article sheds light on how the agriculture community/industry is taking advantage of the immigrant workers. Throughout the article, an essential worker named Veronica Perez shares her story and those of her fellow co-workers. A story where essential workers have had to endure such hardships, them being essential workers for a nut-packing company (Primex Farms). Veronica Perez, an immigrant from Mexico, but also an essential worker. She found that it was only right that she stood up for herself and for her co-workers. For the sake of their own rights and Health. They especially were experiencing bad conditions as essential workers throughout the global pandemic, of COVID-19. It got to the point where the employees had to put in a request for them to be able to wear masks while on the job, and where allegedly the request was declined. The employees who fell sick of the virus stayed home but were unpaid sick days. It is stated that though some have reported to their boss of his lack of well being, but was "encouraged" to continue going to work. Not only were the workers not able to take any precautions but also failed to communicate to the workers the amount of Covid-19 cases that came about in their facility. Armando Elenes, the secretary treasurer of the United Farm Workers (UFW) stated that , “It’s no longer a matter of if—it’s a matter of when.” At this point it was a waiting game on ultimately who was next. Not only were the workers at risk but also their family members.  
The rhetorical device that I found within the article would have to be Pathos. In many ways, I relate to it emotionally. My parents also being immigrants, immigrants who all that they have wanted was to make a living for the sake of the family. The author definitely was able to have the readers connect to the stories that were shared the stories of immigrant workers who had to experience such hardships for the sake of their families. The stories of the hardworking immigrants who the system has failed to provide the bare minimum necessary that a human being needs. Especially experiencing Hardships throughout the deadly global pandemic. Perez had already experienced similar unjusitces. She admitted, "Years ago, she was injured at an almond packing plant and fired. A single mom of three kids, she suddenly found herself with no job and no medical help. " What really got to me was what Perez revealed about the hardships that she has had to endure, “They use you until you can’t give any more of you—and once you have a problem, they’ll get rid of you like you’re nothing,” she states. But enough was enough protests and walkouts came about, many showed up for walkouts. "Perez was thrilled at the turnout and terrified of the possible consequences" But ultimately did what was felt was right,  "She carried a sign listing three demands: sick pay, job protections, and respect". The author was able to communicate the stories in a way that the audience would relate or feel some sort of an emotional appeal, seeing as I was able to form a deep connection. I would say that perhaps all the stories had some sort of an emotional appeal, I was saddened and angry at the situations that the hard workers were faced upon. The bad working conditions, that have impacted many workers and their families. The fact is that many have had to stay silent for the sake of their family. “Most workers prefer to always keep quiet for fear of losing their jobs or for fear of retaliation,” Perez said in a text message. Ultimately the essential workers have been failed by the system and work facilities.  

With the usage of the Information Literacy Framework, the author of the article, Julia Lurie has proven her authority and has demonstrated it through the stories that are shared with the audience. Stories to which the audience may have felt a connection, and perhaps may be able to relate. The author was able to compose an exceptional piece of work with stories and examples, which were was able to appeal to the audience including me. This will definitely be able to create an ongoing conversation, the author was able to do this with the work that she composed and with the ongoing conflicts that the immigrant workers have to endure. The author was able to shed light/awareness of these crucial hardships that the immigrant community and agriculture community have to endure not only throughout the deadly global pandemic but on the daily lives of the hard-working people.

My reading strategies include overall having a look at each paragraph and read the headline, this would be done in order to get an idea of the subject/purpose of the article. By doing this we not only gain and idea of the article but an understanding. 

·       What was difficult about the reading process? 
For the most part I don’t find anything as difficult, besides understanding some of the terms. But that was easily resolved.

·       What helped? I would say that the voice thread videos really helped in showing us how to find the right source for our research, Especially, using my skills of reading and analyzing the source.

·       What questions do you still have about reading? I would say that I have not questions on the reading at the moment.

Now on the other hand my antithesis claims the opposite, that poverty is not the reason why families immigrate from Latin America- Mexico to the United States for a better future. My counter-narrative is that while individuals immigrate from Latin America - Mexico, because of poverty in attempts for a better future, there should be incentives provided by the government and the community. Incentives that include benefits and reform. My counter-narrative can help this conflict by assuring the families of a better and safe future. Assuring the families that they are protected and heard. This incentive would help assure the immigrant families and will diminish that fear of reaching out for help.

Events Ordered: In the police report it is important to list accurately the order of the events, this includes form the time the officer arrived at the scene including every either detail that is part of the crime scene. It has gone unnoticed, and it is appreciated, though we are experiencing a difficult time, we appreciate hearing the impact that our beloved Karen Zandarski has had on many people. I am Elizabeth, Karen's bestfriend. She always always made sure I was doing well. She was like a sister to me, we had known eachother since grade school. 

Karen not only impacted her family or friends but she also made a huge impact amongst her students. Many of you may know that she was an English Professor at California State University Stanislaus. There she made a difference, impacted the lives of many students. She made sure her students were doing well and went the extra mile to form a student- mentor relationship. Students would go to her for advice, whether that be in school or outside of it. 

She was an exceptional mother, who made sure that her children were doing well while away at college. Karen enjoyed spending time with her family and all her loved ones. She was a family women who , fullfilled the needs as a mother, a caring and overall an amazing women she was.

On behalf of the family, once again we appreciate everyone one uniting today to celebrate the life of our beloved Karen as the amazing women, mom, wife, friend, and Mentor, she was to those who surrounded her. So, if we can take a moment to remeber a moment that we shared with our beloved Karen, and keep that memory very close to our hearts, until we meet again.
