The OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship appeals to me because it embodies values that I hold dear: excellence, integrity, and community impact. Beyond financial support, the scholarship provides opportunities for practical exposure, mentorship, and internships that would allow me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world banking challenges. I am eager to leverage this experience to deepen my understanding of financial systems, contribute meaningfully to the industry, and develop solutions that create both economic and social value.

Applying for NTU ADM

I have always loved art, and I started animating when I was 12 after finding out about the many animation projects on the internet. My biggest inspiration in recent years is the NDP music video The Road Ahead, which impressed me with its hybrid animation and mix of different styles. Seeing the warm reception to the video sparked my drive to inspire future generations of Singaporeans with my work.

I believe that art is incredibly important to society since it is quite literally our culture, reflecting our views, politics and telling us about our history. My interest in animation grew into a calling when I realised I could understand its principles and how it worked. Beyond entertainment, this medium can inspire and convey stories in a way pure live-action cannot.

I was intrigued by how robotics and mechatronics have been used in the military. For example drones have been used for gathering intelligence, supply delivery and combat. Search and rescue robots have been a huge game changer as they reduce the risk of military personnel getting injured during rescue missions, and are also more adaptable, durable and precise. This grew into a calling when I realized about the potential for robotics and mechatronics to reshape and elevate the lives of Singapore’s future generations through innovation through integrating robotics into the military to carry out more efficient missions.

Attention Grabber:

When I was eight, I was an avid fan of the Kamen Rider series, being a strong believer of justice and reaching my hand out to those I could, just like the selfless heroes that flashed on the screen. My dreams were propelled when I joined the National Police Cadet Corps. Through there, I recognised that being a police officer would bring my dreams of becoming a hero to reality, which lit up my interest to become a Policeman, to reach out that hand to those in need, like I had always wanted to.

“I would bake for you if I had the perfect conditions to, but Singapore is just too hot.”  I recall that every time the news of global temperature rise pops up, my mother would mention this without fail.  Following by which, she would continue living her life huddled with plastic disposables, which secretly exacerbated the condition of the weather.  Every plastic bag thrown away felt like a punch in the gut, and every disposable utensil used got me thinking: There must be something I can do to ease out the pressure threatening the environment, right?
