It's important to have the hard and uncomfortable conversations with the people who don't completely understand what and where another person is coming from. When people get nervous, most of the time they laugh or crack jokes and don't take it seriously because they don't want to be having the hard conversations that need to be happening. Sometimes people are so set in their ways that they're not willing to listen, but as long as the conversation resonates with some, change will begin to snowball out.

My school has three black employees in the entire school which is 6-12, and every other staff member is white. The implicit bias is obviously in the hiring system in most schools, and if that doesn't change, then almost nothing will. However, my school is somewhat diverse when it comes to the student body, but because our staff is so predominately white and many students of the minority have nobody to relate to or feel comfortable talking to, our student body is very divided, and division is a catalyst for implicit biasing in my school. Mosaics Club is a very small step in creating unity. Even so, when our Mosaics Club comes up with possible ideas, our principal shuts most of the ideas down anyways // When I first came to my school, I saw people that actually needed to come to an event like this and become educated. They're so ignorant and need to learn about topics like these.
