         <description><![CDATA[<div>January 1st of 1863, Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. It said that any State or part of a State that people own slaves, the owners will be considered to be in rebellion with the United States and freed the slaves. It only freed slaves in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Known as a slave rebellion. This was due to the slaves getting tired of how they were being treated so some slaves rebelled and killed nearly 55-65 people. About 50 were whites. The rebellion only lasted a couple day before being put down. DID YOU KNOW 56 blacks were executed for participating in this rebellion and 200 were beaten severely by angry mobs and white militia groups.</div>]]></description>
