While this is in many ways a good thing it also means that the sheer number of possible critical approaches can be a problem in that it is difficult to know where to begin with a project such as this. You chose to outline tha basics of Suassure to begin with, and while this was not quite a clear and comprehensive as it might have been it still managed to convey some of the central aspects of semiotic thinking that you were using. I think that you might have examined the way in which the Navi and their world was constructed in terms of how a certain assemblage of signs is used to invoke their 'otherness' and their 'in touch with nature' nobility, as a certain amount of detailed textual analysis was missing here. I like the idea that you invited the audience to respond to some questions about significtion as this shows some initiative with regard to the from of the presentation. I have not encountered this in a presentation before, and while the audience was a little reticent about responding this was beyond your control.
