On a Saturday afternoon, I was getting ready to go to Gambier Station to meet my YIM Group. I was really excited the night before that I almost didn't sleep. I had my pink suitcase with me and I wore my white YIM t-shirt. I stopped by the school to pick up my friends. Around 1 p.m. we met up and left. By the time we arrived at Gambir Station, I didn't see many of my group. It was so crowded there. I saw lots of UPHC students. My friend, Carren, and I helped my teacher to hand out the tickets and student cards. A few of my friend were late, but in the end, all of us were there.

The whole train ride was around 8 hours in total. I originally sat next to my senior, but I switched seats with her friend so I sat next to Carren instead. I wanted to sleep for the whole train ride, but I couldn't . So, I chose to play my phone and eat my snacks. We arrived in Jogja around midnight and we went straight to our hotel. We arrived to the hotel at 12.30 a.m. and had a short briefing for our schedule that day. After that, we went straight to bed. And that's the beginning of my YIM trip.

The trip starts! Our first location for YIM is a Javanese church called GKJ Wirobrajan. The church was small but it was enough for the people there. There, we were split into 2 groups. The first group will be singing the song "Waktu Tuhan" and "Ku Bersyukur Bapa". Meanwhile, the second grorp were split into 3 small groups. They will be teaching sunday school with 3 levels. Since not enough people were singing, I was put into the singing group. But suddenly, Ms Yashinta said that I should just focus on documenting and that I don't have to sing. So, I started to move around the church to document our activities. It was super fun being able to play with the kids. After the sermon ended, we met with the church pastor. He was really kind. He told us about the history of the church and asked for some feedbacks about the church.

And then, we had lunch in the bus while we were on the way to Tempo Gelato. We had nasi gudeg for lunch. Honestly, the whole Tempo Gelato was my idea. One of my favorite band "Seventeen" went there a few years ago. So i had the idea to go there since it was pretty close from the church.

Then, we had an early dinner at Bale Raos. To get to the restaurant, we rode this bus. It was kind of hectic to get into the bus since there were way too many people. After we got there, we were sat in round tables. We tried a few of the Sultan's food. They had this beer that was not beer. It was a ginger drink kind of. I didn't really like it. We were taught table manners there, which spoon to use for different type of food. There were lots of spoons. The meal it self was pretty good. All of them was pretty good aside from a few of the vegetables that i didn't really liked.

After that, we went back to our hotel. And that was Day 1 of my YIM journey in Jogja.

Day 2! We started pretty early. We went to this catholic nursing home. I was very excited to go there. I couldn't wait to share some stories with the grandmas there. But when we got there, sadly I couldn't share any stories with the grandmas because I had to go around and do my documenting job. But! I met this grandma that kept on stopping me whenever I went past her. She kept saying on how she believes that my generation would grow up to be such nice generation. She went and prayed for me a few times. I ended up sitting down with her for 10 minutes to talk and share some stories with her. Turns out that she used to be a math teacher. And she draws very well. She asked me to write my name in a piece of paper so that she could pray for me whenever she's doing a prayer. That was so nice I cried a few times because of that.

When the time came to say goodbye, a grandma opened up to us telling her story. Her son left her to work abroad and never came back. Whenever she sees young kids, she would go back and miss her child. That was a very touching moment that made everyone cried. Well, not everyone, but lots of people that were still in the room.

After that, we had lunch in a restaurant close to the nursing home. I don't really know what we had but honestly, I didn't really enjoyed it. But it had a really nice view and a swing, so it was okay.

After that, we went to this jeep adventure. We started with learning to play Gamelan. It was...fun, but chaotic. I'm pretty sure the instructor is really tired with us. We kept on messing up somehow. But it was still fun. And then, we learned to do this traditional dance. It was fun yet super funny. Definitely a core memory for me. And then, we went on this 30-minute ride on the jeep. We went through rivers and rice paddy. My jeep broke down in the middle of the river but the jeep in front of mine was kind enough to pull my jeep for the rest of the ride. Honestly, I never thought that spending sunset on a jeep in the middle of a rice paddy would be fun. But it was, and it will definitely be a core memory to me. The view, the people, the vibes, and everything was super fun.

And then, we had our dinner and went back to our hotel to get some sleep. And that's how our day 2 ended. It was a core memory. Definitely.
