How a person identifies may be different from how they express themselves.
2. It can make students afraid to be themselves. It can also make them feel unsupported. It is important to create a safe space in the classroom and allow students to express themselves however they choose, and to make them feel known and understood for who they are. The benefits of having my students feel understood is that it will allow for meaningful relationships with my students and allow students to focus on learning, not on negative external factors

It is important for us to be cautious about attempting to call students by the right gender pronouns so that they feel welcomed and accepted no matter how they look or what they wear.
If we do not acknowledge these differences in the classroom then we are giving other students the ability to bully that person or make them feel unwelcome.
