         <title>What is Hemophilia?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder in which the person cannot form blood clots. So if said person has an accident, the bleeding would be hard to stop whereas a person without hemophilia would form a blood clot without problems. Hemophilia is a blood disorder that is mostly inherited by the mothers X Chromosome, but it can also be developed. Hemophilia is very personal to me because my youngest cousin has hemophilia and it was hard to look out for him since I wasn't so well informed. This disease is harder on kids since they are at the age were accidents happen more. Not a lot of people understand fully what hemophilia is, this causes a lot of problems when encountering a situation where you have to help someone with hemophilia but don't know how. Which is why I think everyone should be informed about hemophilia to prevent a tragedy from occurring. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Types of Hemophilia</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are two recognized Hemophilia types; Hemophilia A and Hemophilia B. <br><br><strong>Hemophilia A<br></strong>Hemophilia A is the most common hemophilia and the one that is considered the "classic" one. The main problem and difference to the type B is that Hemophilia lacks or has a non-working factor VIII (the protein in charged of causing blood clots). Mostly passed down by generations.<br><br><strong>Hemophilia B</strong><br> Hemophilia B or the "Christmas Disease" as it is called sometimes is less common than type A but just as seen. In contrast to Hemophilia A, Hemophilia B lacks or has a non-working factor IX (also a clotting protein). It can also be passed down by generations but it can be a the effects of a mutation or something that went wrong with a gene. <br><br><strong>Hemophilia C<br></strong>Hemophilia C is a little bit more mild than the other two types. And lacks or has a non-working factor XI. It is harder to take care of than the other two types since it is not as predictable because the patient could be bleeding a lot or not bleeding as much. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>How does Hemophilia occur?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia is a hereditary disease passed down from the mother or female in the family through a X- linked recessive pattern. The mother is carrying it in the X chromosome. Males have one X chromosome therefore that mutated copy of the gene is the cause of the disorder. But when it comes to a female, both X chromosomes would have to be affected, which is not likely to happen and why it's more seen in males. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Hemophilia A</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As I mentioned before, Hemophilia A is the most common out of all the types. And it is missing or has a non working factor VIII. This type is passed down, hereditary. It is considered one of the most severe of types and if an injury occurs the bleeding would be longer and more dangerous. But it also has three stages ranging from mild, moderate and severe. During pregnancy, it can or cannot be passed down it just depends on the case and is not as predictable as doctors want it to be. <br><br>A person with Hemophilia A will bleed from minor or more extreme injuries, such as a trauma or a simple dental procedure. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia B is the second most common type. And it lacks or has a non working factor IX. Can be determined from mild, moderate or severe. Most cases are due to being hereditary but it can also be caused by a mutation or change in a gene. It is quite similar to Hemophilia A when it comes to the genetics and how it is passed down. There is also longer time of bleeding in the case of an injury and to stop the injury would depend on the amount of FIX in the plasma.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Hemophilia C</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia C is a little bit more rare, but it can still occur. Hemophilia C would be the cause of a lower level of factor XI (FXI). FXI is important in the clot formation and serves to help the platelets. It is also called the Rosenthal Syndrome.  A huge difference when compared to Hemophilia A or B, would be that Hemophilia C is inconsistent. The bleeding can't be predicted and won't be always during an injury or at the moment of the injury. Therefore it could show up later on. It is hereditary also, but unlike the other two it can affect both genders, not just males. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is no set treatment for Hemophilia yet or a definite cure to this disorder. But there are a variety or treatments or options hemophiliacs can use.<br>Some can get injections of clotting factor concentrates into their system to help the clotting process. There are also some nasal sprays of plasma or fresh frozen plasma that can be given as a treatment in hospitals if prescribed by a doctor. And another treatment is to help the patient understand on how to prevent bleeding at home and what to do if bleeding occurs.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Hemophilia in Children</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia A and B are both inherited diseases, which means children will often get it if it is a common disorder in the family. The daughter will be the carrier if either the mother or father have the gene or the son will inherit it from the mother. There are cases were there is no history of hemophilia and in such cases this can be due to gene flaws.<br><br>When it comes to children, it is very hard to control a child with hemophilia. Children are very active and therefore suffer from more injuries or bruises, which if a family is not aware that their child is hemophilic and an accident occurs, death can be common.&nbsp;<br><br>Doctors often advise that if hemophilia has appeared on the family history, the child should be tested just to be aware.<br><br>It is very important to make sure children understand what Hemophilia is and what they can do to take care of themselves at home. </div>]]></description>

Therefore awareness should be raised explaining on what the disorder is and what we can do in a moment of injury to help someone with hemophilia. It is also good to be aware so we know how to deal with a child with hemophilia if it runs in the family.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hemophilia is sometimes connected to the royal families since it seemed to be more common in them. An example would be Queen Elizabeth and her family, since it is believed that the Queen had Hemophilia B and passed it down for generations. <br><br>The royals would believe that in order to keep the blood "pure" or "royal", they would have to marry cousins. Therefore the marriage would keep their bloodline royal.  The effects of these "cousin marriages" were that because they were family, they had the recessive gene that carried the disorder and therefore be passed down. For example, Queen Victoria's children could marry a cousin who had that gene and since both of them have the gene, the chances would be that the next generation would most likely have it also. </div>]]></description>
