At times it is difficult to see our advising work as complementary to other advising units rather than competing with other advising units. There are times our department may not feel respected or as equally valued as other areas of advising. It is hard to believe/trust information and decisions that are made at the administrative level when things keep changing from one week to the next. Our team itself also struggles with trust of each other based on previous experiences and issues with accountability and equity.

We haven't had much time to process all that has happened because we've been overwhelmed with student appointments and managing the pandemic (both personally and as an office). I think we've been adrift for awhile just trying to weather the storm and it has gotten to us. Too much in a small amount of time leads to burnout and loss of inspiration. In the beginning of the advising model change, some colleges wanted to take each Exploratory Advisor to their college.
