Although the sugar cane plantation workers in Hawaii back in the day were harsh I know a lot about many other conditions around the world. Although immigrants who fled to Hawaii were beaten when they took breaks and had unfair pay according to race African Americans had it a lot worse due to the color of their skin. Instead of having a 3-5 year contract they became slaves for life.
