A2- In my professional life I also use Instagram. I post pictures of things that are happening in our classroom. The Instagram account is private so my parents have to request to follow my account. Many of my parents have followed it.

I reactived my Twitter account last year to participate in the #utedchat and REALLY enjoy it! I have considered using social media to communicate with pants of my students but have abstained thus far because I worry about privacy issues. If I ever post anything related to school I make sure there is no identifying information involved. Generally, my posts are just to give the world a sense of the amazing, wonderful, and crazy things kindergarteners say!

I think many people use it to assert and push a certain persona. Some use social media to display (often somewhat falsely) a positive perfect life, whereas others use it to  display a downtrodden perspective. Many people use social media to connect with other like-minded individuals which has resulted in some fabulous connections and some increased xenophobia.
