My role as charge nurse was to evaluate each students priority of care for their patient and to determine effectiveness of each student's time management strategies. Before morning report, I made a list of each students patients. Then, for morning report I had each student report to me all the pertinent patient information. After receiving report I determined what the student thought was the priority of care for each of their patient. Throughout the day,

This donating process was unfamiliar to me, prior to attending Kapiolani Medical Center. After some research, I found that the donating of umbilical cord blood, is available to parents at all delivering hospitals on Oahu. Hawaii Cord Blood Banking is Hawaii based non-profit, community service organization whose mission is to support measures aimed at improving patient access to transplant, including the collection and public banking of umbilical cord blood from Hawaii's ethnically diverse population.

As I was walking through the hallway of the unit, I saw a health aide attempting to ambulate an elderly patient. I noticed that the patient was barefoot and quickly grabbed a pair of non-slip socks. I approached the patient's room and politely offered the socks to the health aide. I knew that the floors of the hospital were slippery and the fact that the patient was elderly, contributed to the increased risk for falls.
