As we live our daily lives, do our daily routines, visit our favorite places, dine in famous diners, take a sip on a cup of coffee in our favorite café, or simply having a good time, we create conversation with the people who we are with. Conversation about ourselves, our families, our friends, our dogs and cats, our favorite novels and movies, the news we heard in the morning, the trending issue all over the internet, or just anything that cross our minds. This conversation starts to create connection towards each other that make us comfortable and at ease.

Every single day, conversation is everywhere. We can hear genuine laughter as two people talk about something silly that they did or something funny that they’ve heard. Tears fell as people talk about how they regret something or how much they’ve been hurt by someone. A beautiful smile can also be seen as two ladies compliment how pretty they look as they bumped into each other in the hallway. These are some of the emotions we feel and see as we converse with other people. We feel comfortable as we open up ourselves to others, share our ideas and everything that’s on our minds.

But, what if all of these things caused by an amazing conversation fall into a deep dark well called technology?

We live in a world where people are craving for progress. We tend to spend huge amount of money and time to create and continuously innovate the modern technology to provide what they call an “easier life”. It is for a fact that the highly advanced technology has really helped us. One of the most common invention is the mobile phone. Yes, it is true that it made communication way easier. It also helped us gather news reports in just one click. It also made taking photos and videos more convenient. In short, mobile phones serve as our best friend as it replaces hand-written letters, newspapers and radios, television, cameras and other devices. It is a combination of everything is a single handed device which we can bring anywhere we go.

What we don’t realize is that, in exchange of an easier life, we lose relationships we build in years. We lose the excitement of meeting our friends and families to hangout in ouf favorite restaurant or pub. We lose our true emotions. We lose our time to spend with the people that matters. And worst, we lost ourselves. Technology changed us. It changed our mindset, and it changed our hearts. Way back 1800’s, technology was just a dream that we ever wanted, but now? It had been a nightmare that we need to heal in order to bring us back to the times where we feel most alive, where the emotions and feelings are true, and where laughter, smiles and tears are still genuine.

It’s never too late.

The only thing we need to do is to look at ourselves in a mirror and see the person we are now. You will reflect a vulnerable person that has been longing for a companion, and found it in an artificial device that fakes everything. We need to reset our minds and bring ourselves back to how it was before. Let us feel the excitement of reading a sealed hand-written letter once again. Let us intrigue our minds as we read news reports on newspapers while enjoying hot coffee for breakfast. Let us rebuild the relationships that we lost by trying to start a simple conversation as we munch our dinner with the people that we value the most. Let us, once again, embrace ourselves to be free and take ourselves back to 1890.
