How were artisans and skilled workers effected by factories and how did they respond?<br>Answer: They were unable to compete with the low prices of factory-made products.&nbsp; They set up trade unions such as the National Trades' Union to aid their businesses.<br>5.&nbsp; How did transportation in the North benefit factories? &nbsp;<br>Answer:  Canals, roads, and railroads allowed for more efficient transportation of goods and easier transport for people to move into cities. Q: Describe one benefit and one detriment of industrialization in the North.<br>A: Answers may vary.&nbsp;<br>Example: One benefit would be that the North was able to gain over a billion dollars in product value, which is almost 5 times higher than the South and West combined. One detriment would be that the jobs were had low pay, long hours, and unsafe working conditions, which are bad for the workers trying to support their families.</div>]]></description>
