In this story we see that the daughters father is not a fan of her style of writing. They cannot agree on writing style. We see that the daughter continuously changes the story to try to appease her father. No matter how the ending is he is not satisfied. The father thinks out loud that her life is inherently tragic. This shows he is unwilling to change his point of view.

This Story is very well written story. It shows us how over time views on things change. They use something as simple as writing but there is also a deeper story. In the daughters story she is saying the woman has a chance to turn her life around. The father thinks it is the complete opposite. He feels that the woman's life is over because she is now addicted to drugs. This goes to show how over time point of view changes.

The central conflict in this story is that with all the technology that comes ahead we are still not safe. This story was written in 1950, just after world war II. this is the central issue because of the nuclear weapons america used on japan. This is also around the time of the cold war. the central conflict here is that no one is safe and we cannot survive a nuclear blast.

I feel that this story is extremely fitting of its time. We see that the cold war is heating up and WWII had just ended. This would have been a very real possibility at the time. This story I thought was very interesting and very possible. I find it crazy that they predicted smart houses in 2026 and we somewhat have them now. This story at its time would have been very scary if you ask me.
