Always remember that whatever you post on the internet will always remain there in the cracks even after you delete it. It’s so easy for someone to simply take a screenshot of something and then your life may feel like it has ended. And that is one of the main reasons I’ve never posted anything on the internet. Personally, I utilize social media only to text, call, FaceTime, and stay in the loop of my friend’s lives. I don’t get a serotonin rush like most get when revealing to the public some part of my life.

Despite being an outlet for our creativity and life, you must know that people only post or show themselves in the way they want others to perceive them. They’re controlling how you view them. You don’t normally see people post about their struggles, weaknesses, failures, etc. because people naturally want to be liked, even by strangers, which I’ve always found unusual. That want of attention and validation, the desire to be liked, even if it’s from those they don’t really know. Why do they care so much how others see them? Meaning they can so easily throw their best attributes out there and act as if they’re perfect, because most people want that, despite it not being possible to achieve. Because of the constant use and reliability of social media, people often forget or try to ignore the simple truth in the matter, and that is not everything you see is what’s real. People wear different masks all throughout life and the moment you give your trust to someone solely based on the character they play on their social media platforms is the moment you set yourself up for disappointment and pain. It’s unfortunate and dangerous how easily people can judge others based on how they present themselves on social media. For instance, you can come off as overly confident, but they know if you met them in the “real” world, they’d appear more shy or nervous. I guess this can connect to how social media is like a two way mirror. A person can see another one way, but that person evidently just sees their appearance only so they’re more comfortable and confident. But, once they step away from that mirror, then they are usually a much different person.
