Group work. Some learners refused to work with others.

Keeping my job. Some LGBT teachers in private businesses fear losing work.

I receive complaints from learners that their teacher is not an L1 speaker of English or white - and therefore an ineffective teacher.

Microaggressions from other teachers.

Lower rank than other colleagues in my university department leading to greater teaching load, sense that my 'voice' in academic/research related conversations is less valued
Single, child-free by choice leading again to higher expectation to show up at after hours events, weekend events, etc. (where others say they have family, children, etc. to tend to).
Woman - statistically at my institution and many others, those who identify as women take on (are assigned?) more service roles.

I have lost promotion and not been supported by administration when I faced racism from students.

I face a lack of representation within TESOL field and association.

I help students learn how to navigate the education and college systems that are not built for them.

ESL as a department faces discrimination within the college from administration.

Being highly effective advocating for ELLs/ immigrant Students as I teach other educators and educational leaders about the needs of ELLs/ multilingual learners. I’m not only doing my job in a school district but also doing on-the-spot PD / didactic moments for several school district stakeholders.

As a TESOL teacher educator, it is difficult when students in the master's program/classes push-back on topics about equity, multiculturalism, diversity, belonging, etc. because they don't/can't see the connection between these topics and "teaching English". There is, in some parts of the US, a brick wall up against these topics because students see it as a "conspiracy" -- (which underscores the importance of this work) -- but it is so hard sometimes. AND these students loudly complain, in class, in teaching evaluations, and sometimes directly to chairs/deans.
