I think this is just a sign that Enzo is somewhat giving up. He is realizing that everyone is giving up and at one point he was the peace maker and he is realizing that he no longer can do the same thing he did before.

In th passage, Frank is showing that on some days he didn't wanna go to America right now. That maybe he should wait to go when Malachy can or the rest of his family can come over. I feel this is important because it symbolizes the end of our story. My reasoning is because we have gone through these last couple of chapters watching Frank work towards being able to go to America.
