To me, it was the same concept as someone clicking a pen continuously. However, once listening to Ratliff’s playlist, I discovered how important that one not can actually be. One of his examples is “I Wanna Be Sedated” by Ramones. Basically, the guitar plays the same note several times. This single note keeps the piece together though. It gives you that desire to bop your head, and it so nicely contrast the other elements of the song that are changing notes. That one note plays the best that the rest of the song is built on. My personal example is a favorite of mine and that is “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. This song become iconic and one of those reasons is the transition in style throughout the piece. One of these transitions though plays a continuous note.
