In this song Kali Uchis is the main speaker. Tyler, The Creator and Bootsy Collins are in the background, but Tyler might give some insight too. There is no specific occasion for this song. We should take into account that in the making of this album Kali Uchis was traveling and is a Colombian-american. Being away from home and knowing that you have other family members in a different country has influenced her music.

Her audience is mainly people who are struggling with a kind of fear or sadness that is holding them back from taking care of themselves. Loneliness is also mentioned in the song.

Kali Uchis is the main speaker in this song. Throughout the song she keeps telling those who struggle with their own demons and fears that they must hang onto life as they will soon find the love they need sooner or later. She uses the appeals of logos and pathos in her lyrics and the appeals of pathos and ethos in the video. Her use of metaphors, truth and symbols gives the listener a clear message.

The song isn't much of a story, but more like advice and feeling. There is only one example of ethos in the lyrics that I could identify.
A few verses into the song it is stated, "“Nothing good ever comes easy." This is commonly said and everybody has heard it from someone at some point in their life. As kids we are taught this ideology, in order to get to your goal you have to go through many situations that will grant you a step closer to it. It isn't easy to get something good to happen, most times it'll appear after going through stress.

There is a lot of emotions that are put into the lyrics, since the main message is to get those feelings through to the listener. It becomes clear what this song is about when she says, "“Yeah, do you ever wonder what he might be going through on his own? And the demons that he's facing alone.” In this line Kali asks the listener if they have ever wondered what a person has to go through in their lives, calling the struggles "demons." The demons may be insecurities, mental illnesses, people and situations. These demons hold the person back from being truly happy or at peace, so they have to fight them off in order to live. Sometimes there isn't anyone that can help them face the fear of it all, so they do it on their own and hope they win. She knows that people are struggling to find a way to confront these problems but despite it all she still wants them to be hopeful by telling them, “The sun'll come out But we've been struggling endless days Someday we'll find the love 'Cause after the storm's When the flowers bloom." When people are stuck in their own storm, sometimes it'll last for months or years. They'll start to question if there will be any good times since they've been stuck in the storm for so long. Kali reassures them that there will be good times as the sun will come out. The sun is a metaphor of a feeling of relief, happiness, peace and love. Storms will leave a mess behind but provides nature to grow back from it. The flowers will bloom, meaning that the person will grow or recover from the storm despite all the circumstances. After this, Tyler states, “Feeling better, better than ever 'Cause your umbrella, brella (brella, light.)” Tyler, The Creator was in a storm and was sheltered by someones umbrella. The umbrella protected him from the storm, sheltered him under it and it helped since he didn't have to go through even more pain than he already was. The umbrella symbolizes support, kindness and love.

Although the singer mostly focuses on emotions, it also comes with the truth. The first verse in kali says, "“I hate that sometimes I can't go home and it just ain't the same on the phone, no, but everybody's gotta go on, don't they?” This is a reference to a feeling of loneliness that someone who has moved away from their family home or country has felt. Kali Uchis has mentioned her family before, talking about how some of her family had to go to the united states in order to find stable income. They can't return to their home country and it's sad to see the children grow up without their own parents. Despite their worries they must move on and take care of themselves in order to provide the money they need for their families back home. She also says, "And everybody's hurting, Everybody's going through it." Although this sounds more on the emotional side, it's undeniably true. Sometimes people will deny that everyone around them isn't struggling with their own demons, just because they have a more stable life. Everyone might cope with their struggles by bottling it up and putting them away for long periods of time. Because of this she also says “No one’s gonna save you now, so you better save yourself.” Most people aren't going to notice you being fearful of your own demons and sometimes they won't help. Don't expect a knight in shining armor to appear when you're desperate and scared. You must save yourself in a situation when you only have yourself, self reliance is important.

The video used many symbols, the clothing too represented the feeling that Kali Uchis was trying to convey through the music. The video and lyrics go along together though, the imagery and lyrics work together to show an emotion. The song convinces the audience that despite all the hardships they will go through, there will be a time of peace, love and happiness.
