The Everglades are one of Florida's biggest national parks. It is 1 and a half million acres. Almost 400 species of birds, 50 kinds of reptiles, dozen mammals, and lots of fish and insects. The Everglades water moves at about 4 miles an hour. During the summer wet season alligators build high and dry nest to lay their eggs so that vicious predators such as bears can't reach the eggs. After wet season it then turns to dry season. Waiting birds start to build their nests high in trees during dry season. Since they drained part of the Everglades lots of new bridges have been built. That's what I learned about the Everglades.

The Kissimmee River in Florida used to follow a course that went all the way to Lake Okeechobee. During a summer wet season, water took over and overflowed Lake Okeechobee. It flooded a custard apple tree orchard, the saw grass plains, mangroves, coastal prairies, and the brackish bays.
