Draft IMPACT Plan :

Idea 1: Develop the skill of Crocheting and donate projects to local op shops/vinnies linking to the element of commiting to pupose and making an impact on my local community.

Idea 2: Develop the skill of Coding and documenting my challenges through a blog, linking to the 5's elemnt of dealing with uncertinty.

Acountability Buddy Feedback:

During my feedback session with my elbow buddies I asked for some feedback first regarding witch goal I should pick, explaining the benfits and cons of both. I talked about how I had previous experince with crocheting and they gave me helpful feed back that highlighted that from the info I had given them it seemed as though I would easily pick up crocheting whereas, coding was something completely new to me and would enable me to expand a new skill I hadnt worked on before. This influced my final decision on witch skill I would develop. After this I explained what My goal would be when coding as shown above (idea 2) and asked for feeback on its Streagths, Concerns, Affirmations and Improvements: To enhance if further.

Strengths:

New skill that isnt something I have exerinced before hand connecting most to the elemnt of managing uncertity when approching something I haven't explored previously

Concerns:

How are you going to track it are you going to attempt anything at the start then attempt it at the end? Or is there going to be a project that you work on?

Affirming-

I like how it is something that cant be easily learnt and has alot of diffrent factors and is more connected towards problem solving.

Better:

If I had a set goal and something I wanted to actually create.

I

Reworked IMPACT Goal:

Create a A blog to track progress for EIF skills when learning how to code.

After one week of using brilliant to work on my coding skills I have started to understadnd how the app works and the skills it focueses on developing. When sing this app I noticed that I encountered many direction focused activities that wern't related to coding, while these supported my abilti to form directions and folow them they did not connect to my original elemnt of managing uncertinty and I noticed wre very simple and not suitable for my skil level. Athough I have only completed 7 lessons (app restricts to one lesson a day), I mae the decision to change the format that I used to practice coding. To find a more suitable app I asked my dad about what websotes he would recomend since he has experince with coding, and he recomended a course on Code Academy calles Python 3.3 Beginers. After experinmenting with how the course works and looking through the lessons available I found that it was much more challenging and inteactive than Brilliant, and suitable to my skill level.

After two days of using code academy I have finished 7 lessons 1 lesson a day lerning one new concept each day. I found that once I learnt one concept I could use it to support my nderstanding of a new one and as I continued I had to use the support feature les and less using my problem solving skills to use the cioncepts I learnt to identtify witch parts of my code I need to change to achive the lesson goal. I also find the fornamat of this course very suited to my learing style as it provides me with some basic information and encpurages me to attempt solving probles within a code that has errors. Today I also showed my accounatbility partner ayuri the new course I was completeing and my current progress she affirmed the choice I made and also congradiulated me on my consistelcy an progress.

I – Intention: I want to grow the Capability Element of "managing uncertinty"

Developing this element would be meaningful for me because: ‘uncertinty’ is a something that is npredictable and it is a very valauble skill to be able to overcome that and achive your goals.

To support growth in this element, I plan to develop the skill of: Python coding, to create a game project, my dada is very involved in many forms of coding and I would have many recouce I can use to develop this skill . This s something that would spport my development of this element as I have never learnt how to code and

M– Milestone: By the beginning of term 4, I aim to: have a basic knowledge of python functions and use them to cretate a simple interactive game project. I am hoping that by doing this regularly I will develeop my problemsolving skills and ability to have a open midset.

P- Practise:

I will use the Brilliant app to log my daily lessons and count up my weekly streaks, documenting the amount of lessons I complete every day. I wil also take screen recordings of my coding progress and blog any challenges that I come across and the probelm solving steps I took to achive it.

Attractive: I currently have a night time

routine that includeI will connect this habit with my daily drawing talks for art doing this before I get the oprtnity t do this

satisfaction through keeping to a goal and hopefully the satisfaction of seeing my games and ideas devellop even if they are not complete.

p –

Anticipate Obstacles (What is your If/Then Plan?):

IF (Things that could get in my way of me achieving my goal are:

A If these happen). Workload priorities and my responsibilities could make it difficult to make time to practice and attend every Wednesday night, it might get difficult to attend.

Then I will: Practise-keep a streak ith my lessons on code academy, is I face challenges hen using my laptop or if i am away I will write down my ideas and planning for code on paper.

– Check-in Plan: Every 3 weeks, I’ll reflect on:

✔️ Am I consistent with my habit? ✔️ Is my skill improving?

✔️ What needs adjusting? ✔️ What obstacles have I experienced?

✔️ What opportunities have arisen?

C By Check-in one, I plan to: Complete half of my code academny lessons and complete code for my final game even if it doent work.

By Check-in two, I plan to: Finish one mini project complete the rest of my code acadmey lessons Master the using varibles in code, start practicing loops.

(plus words) and perform on stage with a group song.

By Check-in three, I plan to: Finsih final game code.

– Transfer:

At the end, I will show my growth by: I hope that I will be able to reflect on my improved ablity to deal ith difficult scenarios hen coding.

During the holdliday especially I did struggle with keeping on track and faceing challenges regarding consistency when i went on holiday without my laptop and paused my progress and this did cause me to go off track and delay my sessions for the reminder of the holiday. But when the term began I made sure to restart my habits building up a routine of coding for 30 minutes after school everyday.

An observable behavior of my key elements that I practiced throughout this journey is using uncertainty as an opportunity for growth. Throughout my coding journey, I faced ot of uncertainty with codes not working, learning new loops nd experimenting with new vibes s Whenever I faced challenges within my code, I used it s n opportunity to learn new pieces of information bout code instead of being stumped by my challenges. Gradually, I had a toolkit of recources incuding blogs, websites, and notes that could support me hen I s uncertain of a solution. For example, when I struggled with tmy finl code, I tlked with one of my peers (hugo) ho I knew as familiar ith code nd the pltform I s using, for help on itch code to cnge nd e worked together to idetify my errors nd complete the code.

5C Elements Updated 2025

How did the feedback from your accountability buddies help drive your learning throughout Task 2? After identifying that the app s too esy for my skill level, we created ln to chnged the pltform in checkin one by observing a video I took of me coding and asked me some questions that guided my decision to change the platform I used to practice. I chose an app that was more difficult and enabled me to clearly practice the element of managing uncertainty.

What other elements did you develop over this process?
