Love requires that I deliberately show gentleness and kindness in difficult contexts. It means that I can't use just my reason, skills, policy, precedent, etc. to inform my decision making.

Sometimes we work really hard and enjoy fruit from our labour. But, over time, our roles may change, and other perspectives, philosophies and approaches take away from the work you achieved. This can be disheartening and embittering. However, the Corinthians 13 love would provide a model of surrender and support - even to colleagues who have/are 'damaging' your personal legacy. This may be difficult, but love is important.
