The rising inflation in Toronto, alongside high housing costs, has significantly contributed to an increase in homelessness. In 2022, advocates warned that inflation and rising interest rates created a "perfect storm," pushing more people into homelessness. With the cost of living climbing, many individuals are unable to afford housing, leading to an increase in the homeless population across Canada, including Toronto. It's estimated that over 8,000 individuals in Toronto are homeless, and the city continues to see a growing number of people relying on shelters or living on the streets due to economic challenges.(https://www.blogto.com/city/2021/10/heres-exactly-how-many-people-homeless-toronto-right-now/) [oai_citation:1,Inflation, high prices cause ‘perfect storm’ driving more into homelessness: advocates | Globalnews.ca](https://globalnews.ca/news/9358742/inflation-high-prices-driving-more-into-homelessness-advocates/).
