Describe the rise of the civilization: 
  • Cultural groups created a number of earthworks in varying, ranging complexes, hilltop enclosures, and Conical mounds, found around fertile rivers or stream valleys. 
  • Where the civilization was located: 
    • Between Great Lake and Mexico 
  • Accomplishments:  
    • People lived and farmed along rivers and waterways. They had burial mounds which revealed many aspects of the society. They made a lot of carved animals and pottery used for rituals. 
  • How society was organized: 
    • Tradition was not a single culture or society, but a widely dispersed set of  related populations. 
  • What their economy was based on: 
    • The economy is based on hunting, fishing, and growing squash, pumpkins, sunflowers, goosefoot and marsh elder. 
  • Reasons for the fall of the civilization: 

    • Around 400 A.D, began to decline for an unknown reason.

  • Describe the rise of the civilization: The Olmec's developed one of the earliest known civilizations in the Americas.They settled along the Gulf of Mexico around 1200BCE. Because agriculture was very successful. that led to growth of population. They built cities and ceremonial centers.
  • Where the civilization was located: Mexico in the present-day Mexican states of Veracruz and Tabasco.
  • Accomplishments: First meoamerican civilization to develop a writing system
  • They constructed the earliest known mesoamericn pyramid
  • The first mesoamerican culture to build monumental sculpture
  • First great mesoamerican civilization
  • How society was organized: Through social classes (Main Population, The Elite, and Common People)
  • What their economy was based on: Centered around agricultural production
  • Reasons for the fall of the civilization:  The Civilization thrived until approximately 800 B.C. when the capital, San Lorenzo, fell due to a "natural catastrophe." Scientists believe that the city was abandoned; the most probable cause was the river that was very important to their survival changed course due to shifts in the earth's tectonic plates.

  • Describe the rise of the civilization: 

Pachuchti (first emperor) expanded the cult of ancestor worship. He began the Empire of the sun. 

  • Where the civilization was located: 

perú, bolivia, argentina, and chile (1400)

  • Accomplishments: 

golden ornaments, Machu Picchu, farming terraces, irrigation for water, stone workers

  • How society was organized: 

houses on terraces, and lots of stonework

  • What their economy was based on:

 The Incas economy was based off of an agricultural system. This contributed to social wealth.


  • Reasons for the fall of the civilization:  
The Incan empire fell because the conquistadors came and kidnapped the Incan emperor. The Incans later died out due to disease

For reasons not fully known but having to do with internal social, political, and religious conflicts, a tremendous cultural catastrophe occurred at the beginning of the 12th century. The city of Tula was attacked and destroyed, as were other important Toltec centres. They threw trash in a dump. Also, resources and farmland were all handed down through the family. Mostly the men did farming and irrigation while women cleaned and cooked and made things because that was what was normal back then.
