The  Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) organized the summit in cooperation with various government agencies and the International Labour Organization (ILO). It underscored the importance of collaboration between its sectors to develop strategies to address the employment crisis that worsened due to COVID-19. Conversations covered the notion of “jobs gaps” — much larger than simple unemployment figures, covering all the ways that women and youth, particularly, don’t get meaningful jobs. DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma reiterated the promise of sustainable, high-quality jobs that uphold workers' rights and offer social protection. The Philippines also participated in global efforts for social justice and the promotion of jobs, such as regional consultations for the finalization of the TPB Plan.
