stating that," God will not have his work made manifest by cowards." By saying that "God will not" he is able to use an ethical appeal towards his audience to show that he knows what god wants and that he believes the same as him. He uses the quote,"These are the voices which we hear in solitude, but they grow faint and inaudible as we enter into the world. Society everywhere is in conspiracy against the manhood of every one of its members" to show emotions. By comparing society to a dark world, where it grows," faint and inaudible" he is able to visually show his audience his emotions. By saying," Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh," he appeals logically to his audience.
