King George III pressured Parliament to enforce a lot of laws that angered the colonists, to disregard the colonists' rights to freedom of speech, and to punish them for boycotting/protesting. Thus, the revolution began.

b) However, the colonists do have a lot to do with the revolution starting (obviously). They wanted to be very involved in the lawmaking process and tried making their wants very obvious by acting out. They were the ones to start the Boston Tea Party, the protests, and they turned the Boston Massacre into Patriot propaganda.

The British were pushing their terms of agreement with the colonists when they started pressing more and more taxing acts on them after the French and Indian War. Sure, maybe the Stamp Act wasn't too bad because it wasn't too bad since it was the only taxing act released. But as soon as they released the Townshend Acts, they were kind of asking for it.
b.) The Colonists term for "no taxation without representation", was fair. But, they overreacted at the Stamp Act when their papers were getting taxed. They took it to the  extent where they burned down the British representative's house for it. Was it irrational? Yes. But the British were not smart with fighting violence with violence, as that triggered their irrationality even more.

If the British hadn't opposed those high taxes on the colonies then they would not have to resort to such forms of drastic protest. The British overstepped their boundaries with the amount they taxed and the colonists had no choice but to fight against the taxes, but there were definitely better forms of protest than rioting in the streets and destroying buildings. In the end it was this violence from the colonists that forced the British to retaliate that sparked the violence of the Revolution. I would do this because the start of the revolution was caused by the part the British had in the French and Indian war. If they hadn't gotten greedy with the land they never would've been a part of that war and never would've asked the colonists for their help with the tax money. This led the colonists to be angry because they were being taxed on something they didn't have anything to do with. In conclusion, this was the British being greedy with tax money by taxing them on something that wasn't caused by them, and the effect was the Colonists retaliating and using essentially self defense.
