The product I have chosen to export as I view each website provided is Petroleum. Petroleum also called crude oil, is a fossil fuel. Like coal and natural gas, petroleum was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms, such as plants, algae, and bacteria. After reviewing each of the websites provided I was able to gather a substantial amount of information, in which I believe would be enough in order to export my product. There are a few reasons on why I believe that from the websites I was able to gather everything needed to export my product, one of the reasons is because from this information I know how to get my product exported to another country. In addition to this I was able to gather information on Petroleum such as oils obtained from bituminous mineral and a weight of 70 percent or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations and waste oils. I was also able to use another website to gather information on the free trade agreement that would allow my product to be exported to another country. Following this I would read through the seven steps that there is to the shipping process, how it works and step by step flow chart. Lastly I was informed on general information in the previous year that included international merchandise trade, trade indices, economic trends, fyi and external financial resources, as well as trade in goods and services

Grayson Mills - Are Nuclear Reactors Ready to Export?

I chose nuclear reactors as my export product and decided to export the product from the United States to Argentina. When using the websites provided, finding information regarding whether my commodity would be ready for export, appeared to be lackluster to say the least. When looking at the General Profile for both the United States and Argentina, only information provided appeared to be their top trading partners, export structures, total trade, economic indicators, financial flows, etc. This information, however, does not give me any information regarding my product. When looking at the shipping process step-by-step, it became clearer as to what I need to ship my product, but the General Profiles provided none of that. This led me to conduct some of my own research regarding the exporting process of nuclear reactors. Nuclear reactors can only be exported by the US to certain countries. A nuclear agreement must be made to ensure safe use of the technology. For example, The US does not have a nuclear agreement with Iran and thus does not export nuclear reactors to Iran. With this in mind, it means that the US cannot export nuclear reactors to Argentina specifically because the US and Argentina do not have a nuclear agreement. The reason a nuclear agreement is needed is because although nuclear reactors can be used to generate electricity, they can also be used to produce nuclear weapons. I, however, found the amount of revenue, top exporters, product complexity, and export growth that this commodity has in the world trade market. In 2020, nuclear reactors acquired $3.41 billion in revenue, ranking 591/1217. The top exporters were Russia, making $870 million, and France, making $603 million. Nuclear reactors have a product complexity of 1. Lastly, its export growth is an 8.35% from 2019-2020. In conclusion, my product would not be ready for export to Argentina even if other arrangements were met.

The product I chose for this assignment was coffee. More specifically, liquid coffee and coffee additive, not coffee bean. After going through the websites provided, I did not find much information when it came to exporting in relation to coffee itself. This of course makes it difficult because, as a business owner, I would want to know how my specific area of product needs to be exported before I started that process. That being said, there is ample information throughout these websites on exporting itself and the exports process from the United States to different countries. Given this information, I do believe it would be possible to export my product even though I don't have an incredibly amount of information about my specific process. I believe that coffee exporting would be more of a "learn as you go" type process, and I do believe that makes sense as the United States actually imports much more coffee than they export. The "beginners guide to imports and exports", and "how the shipping process works" would be lifelines of information for any company who is unsure of how the export process works and what the step by step guide would be. I would still have a lot more research to do if I was to actually try and export coffee, as I was able to find very little even with all of these resources.

The product I chose to export is tobacco as it is one of the main resources exported to various countries. The demand is very high especially in westernized countries such as the US where the population has a high consumption of the product. When we ship our order the first thing we will need is to obtain a letter of credit as it is one of the most secure ways to get payments for international shipping. After that we would need to issue a commercial invoice with the order confirmation. As the supplier we need to provide different documents such as packing list, certificate of origin, shipper letter of instruction, and a manufacturer’s declaration. These documents are necessary for customs purposes. The buyers will also need to prepare some documents and in the end issue a bill o landing to show that the product has arrived safely. Another special requirement to export Tobacco and Manufactured Tobacco Substitutes is that the shelf-life period of export has to be mentioned clearly on each package of such food products. Under most of the categories, such shelf-life period should not be less than 60% of total shelf period of export Tobacco and Manufactured Tobacco Substitutes. In general, it is a very common product to export and for the US it is a guaranteed success as many people demand it. The information found on the websites was not as clear, so I had to research a bit more in detail, but the steps provided on how to export were very precise and showed what is required.

Looking through the websites I tried to find as a much information on coffee exportation to the US and how Brazil manages to be the top exporter to the US. I found that the world's top exporter of coffee is Brazil. The South American nation's coffee exports totaled $3.81 billion in the marketing year 2019–20, a modest decrease from approximately $4 billion the previous year. Based on value, the United States is Brazil's top export market for coffee. Exports to the North American nation totaled 755.8 million dollars in the marketing year 2019–20. With almost 700 million dollars worth of Brazilian coffee exports, Germany came in second. Brazilian coffee's primary market last year was the United States, which purchased 7.86 million bags, 24% more than in 2018. One-fourth of all Brazilian sales go to the nation, which is the biggest consumer of coffee in the world. The other significant purchasers were Germany, Italy, and Japan. Brazil is ideally situated geographically to develop coffee. Conditions are ideal for coffee harvests due to its largely hot and humid temperature (which might be tropical or temperate), as well as its rich soils. In 2020, more than 61.6 million 60-kilogram bags of coffee are expected to be produced in Brazil, up from 49.3 million bags in 2019. A biannual effect in harvest yields, where production yields are extremely high one year and fairly low the following, is what distinguishes coffee crops. A supposedly "good biennial year" is 2020. Even though I had to look on some other websites to completely understand the exports of coffee out of Brazil, the websites that were listed really helped me to understand how much coffee does Brazil have and sends to the US.

The country that I chose is Spain and the product is olive oil. The reason behind choosing this country is that is my home country, and we are leaders in the production of olive oil and I would like to see the exportations. Spain is the world's greatest producer, exporter, and consumer of olive oil, producing over half of the world's total, or around 1.3 million tons, of which 46% is exported. Spain is the biggest exporter of goods to other European nations; most of it is exported and packed abroad, particularly in Italy. In the first quarter, from October to January, Spain produced 1.24 million tons of olive oil, of which 320,800 tons were exported and roughly 180,000 tons were consumed domestically. It has processed close to 6.3 million tons of olives with an average yield of 19.7 percent, 1.7 points higher than last season but somewhat lower than the preceding one. At the end of the previous month, it had stocks of more than a million tons of olive oil. The world's top exporter of pure olive oil in 2020 was Spain, which sent $3.26 billion abroad. Pure olive oil was Spain's ninth-most exported item that year. Italy ($839M), the United States ($447M), Portugal ($328M), France ($284M), and the United Kingdom ($161M) are Spain's top export markets for pure olive oil. Spain's Pure Olive Oil had its exports to Seychelles ($23.1 million), Australia ($22.1 million), and the United Kingdom ($17.1 million) grow at the fastest rates between 2019 and 2020. In summary, it is a very common product to export, and since so many people want it, it will be successful for Spain. Although the material on the websites was clear, I had to do a lot of research to find it. The instructions for exporting were quite detailed and demonstrated what was needed.

The product I decided to export is maple syrup that is one of the most qualitative syrups in the world. The first producer and exporter of this product is Canada that counts the 75 % of the global market.
Why did I choose it? I think it can potentially be a good product to export around the world because of its quality and because it is a kind of food that is always appreciated by the most of people. In 2022 the price range for maple syrup was between $ 2,26 and $ 2,34 per pound (lb). One bottle of 12,5 oz is $ 7.98, and I think it is an affordable price. One interesting thing I saw is that in 2021 Canada was the first out of five best partners for exports having gained $ 306,927 for their products exported, and syrup was one of the product the country exported most. Charges on tariffs are not bad with only $ 2,50 per pound purchased.
Overall, I definitely think this is a perfect product to be exported and also to be traded in exchange of other resources that Canada would need to import.
