Some inventions were created in this era. Some of the things known today were created, such as Super Glue, (1951), the Barbie Doll, (1959), and the Etch a Sketch, (1961). More inventions broke through, making our lives easier and more fun. All of these inventions kept getting upgraded to be made into what we have today. Most people today can't even guess what would happen if they didn't have some of these items today.

Technology, food, music, and fashion isn't the only thing that the 1960's and the 1950's were good at having. Sports such as Football, Golf, and Boxing were very popular back in the days. Instead of watching it through a TV, the people who lived in the 50's and 60's would have to buy tickets and get seats to the show before they ran out. Because they didn't have very good TV, the tickets sold out very quickly. People wanted to see it in live action and full color.

Although sports dominated the entertainment area of the 1950's and 1960's, there was much more to be seen. Even though TV wasn't very good nor in color, people still had their favorite shows to watch. After years of trial and error, the TV networks had finally began pushing out shows that people wanted to see. But keep in mind, former FCC chairman Newton Minow famously referred to this era as a "vast wasteland." (Photo: The Andy Griffith show, 1960)

The economy in the 1950's was known as the "Decade of Prosperity", the economy overall grew by 37%, and at the end of the decade, the average American family had 30% more purchasing power than at the beginning of the decade. The damage World War 2 had caused on the economy had become minimal thanks to U.S. president at the time Dwight D. Eisenhower's efforts.
