#1) "What impact did geography have on the development of the American colonies?
Answer: B. It led to a variety of economic differences between northern, middle, and southern colonies.

The impact that geography had on the development of the American Colonies was that it created differences in the economies of each group. The South had fertile soil and so they mainly relied on cash crops for their money. However, in the North, they had colder climates and less fertile soil, so they would go on to mostly rely on smaller farms, fishing, and, eventually, manufactured goods. Everything from climate to the ground they walked on helped shape the areas of the American colonies.

#7) In the Colonial Era, the development of southern colonies such as South Carolina were dependent on what factor?
Answer: A. The use of African slaves as an inexpensive labor force

During the Colonial Era, the development of the southern colonies was dependent on the use of Africans as an inexpensive labor force. The southern colonies were using extremely large pieces of farm land known as plantations to grow cash crops for money. These lands would have been nigh impossible for one person to manage, but paying for labor would have been too expensive. So the southern colonies resorted to slave labor as it was cheap and therefore would yield the most profit. The cheap labor allowed them to maximize profits as they had fewer responsibilities to the workers as they had no rights.
