         <title>History of the Zaporozhye</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Archaeological finds show that about two or three thousand years ago Scythians lived around a modern city. Later, Khazars, Pechenegs, Kuman, Tatars and Slavs dwelt there. The trade route from the Varangians to the Greekspassed through the island of Khortytsia. These territories were called the "Wild Fields", because they were not under the control of any state (it was the land between the highly eroded borders of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Grand Duchy of Moscow, and the Ottoman Empire.<br><br>In 1552 Dmytro Vyshnevetsky erected wood-earth fortifications on the small island Little Khortytsia which is near the western shore of Khortytsia island. The scientists consider these fortifications to be a prototype for the Zaporizhian Sich — the stronghold of the paramilitary peasant regiments of Cossacks.</div>]]></description>

This open landscaped area of 4.5 hectares with elements of modern landscape design is located next to the cascade of fountains “Rainbow” on the embankment of the Dnieper.<br><br></div><div>The park was named after the village of Voznesenka, which in the old days was in this place. There is an artificial pond with fountains. This is one of the cleanest and well-organized parks in Zaporozhye, a place for recreation and various cultural events.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The park is a long, wide avenue, at the end of which there is a memorial complex. He joined a few elements. In the center stands the figure of a soldier with a battle banner. Warrior with a sad, middle-aged person standing on a low pedestal. Beside him stands the stele with the image of her profile soldier in a helmet. At the foot of the stele is a memorial plate. For both sculptures extends a wall with the names of the fallen soldiers were buried here. Several in the side are memorials. A dedicated pilot SI Morozov, and the second - the heroes of his countrymen.<br><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Until 1921 the city bore the name of Aleksandrovsk after the name of a fortress that was a part of the Dnieper Defence Line of Russian Empire. In 1921 the city name was changed to Zaporizhia (Zaporozhye).<br><br></div><div><br>The city's name "Zaporizhia" literally means the position of the city located <em>beyond the rapids</em> (later, in 1932 the rapids were flooded in order to build the <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dnieper_Hydroelectric_Station">Dnieper Hydroelectric Station</a>).<a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaporizhia#cite_note-Pospelov-5"><sup>[5]<br></sup></a><br></div>]]></description>
