Scientists name hurricanes for many reasons. One reason is that it helps people communicate easily about the dangerous storm. It also helps people to remember the hurricanes and when they occured. They name them so that people can stay safe in the dangerous times. However, tornadoes are not named. This is because they occur more often and are not as special as hurricanes. Also, they can not be tracked for as far in advance, so they would not have time to be named. Lastly, tornadoes last a shorter amount of time, so people would not have to keep referring to the same storm. Therefore, both storms are named or not named for safety reasons.
http://earthsky.org/earth/how-do-hurricanes-get-their-names

https://www.cnn.com/2016/08/22/weather/weather-naming-storms/index.html

Predicting hurricanes is not an infallible process, however; scientists can try to anticipate storms in advanced. This is achieved through satellites and radar systems. Two categories determine a prediction, seasonal probability and current storm tracking. The process starts in late April, and after they find a storm or predict where a storm may be coming, they can start tracking a route for the storm. The most accurate route tracking will happen three to five days in advanced. By analyzing trends in data, storms can be predicted almost 10 years in advance. To get more reliable results, they measure levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Therefore, scientists can predict hurricanes through recent technology advances up to ten years in advanced.

http://web.mit.edu/12.000/www/m2010/teams/neworleans1/predicting%20hurricanes.htm

https://www.wired.com/2010/11/hurricane-forecasts/

People for as long as they have been tracking hurricanes have had trouble identifying these hurricanes. Scientist began to name hurricanes so that they can indicate what time period, geographic location and intensity. Hurricanes also have names because they are easily communicated around the globe. Tornadoes are not named because they come with little death toll and little damage in a wide are of land. Tornadoes are way more weak than hurricanes therefor they need no name to track it.https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/6/16255962/hurricane-harvey-irma-noaa-naming-world-meteorological-organiz

Hurricanes used to be kept track of by the year or month that they occured in. Scientist thought that over time it would get very hard to remember all these years that tornadoes have occured in. Eventually they realized that if they gave the hurricanes easy, simple names then it would be a lot easier to track. They also did this in the case of more than one hurricane occurring at once, which is something we have been experiencing lately. The reason that scientist don't name tornadoes are for two reasons. One reason is that tornadoes occur in the span of about 20 seconds to 6 minutes, no one can really tell, which makes it harder to name every tornado that happens. It is also because they are very hard to track so you can't name them.

Some are not all underground, you can have hard protective above ground ones, and some people can gat a dome roof that is protective. - Katie o'Brien

Meteorologists long ago learned that naming tropical storms and hurricanes after people helps people remember the storms, communicate about them more effectively, and so stay safer if and when a particular storm strikes a coast. These experts assign names to hurricanes according to a formal list of names that is approved of before the start of each hurricane season. In the United states, scientists simply don't find other natural disasters as special, so that is why tornadoes are not named. Scientists believe this because over the course of history, hurricanes were known to cause much more damage. Also being that tornadoes only last for a short amount of time, this is another reason of why scientists do not name them.

https://www.cnn.com/2016/08/22/weather/weather-naming-storms/index.html

Tornadoes require warm and moist air to form. It is extremely rare for them to occur in winter, but it can happen and is definitely not impossible. Winter tornadoes are more deadlier because they can mix with rain, making them seem to be a thunderstorm when in reality it is not. Also, because in winter daylight hours aren’t as much as they are in summer, winter tornadoes mostly occur in the night or early morning, when most people are asleep. Because of this, many people can die without even knowing there was going to be a tornado. In Alaska there have been only 4 recorded tornadoes since 1950 and all were rated EFO, which is the lowest tornado rating. This means those 4 tornadoes weren’t at all serious just some damage was made.

http://www.isciencetimes.com/articles/6864/20140221/winter-tornadoes-how-common-deadlier-storms.htm

http://www.ustornadoes.com/2013/06/26/u-s-tornadoes-that-occur-outside-the-u-s-the-continental-u-s-that-is/

This area is suited to bring all of the ingredients together to forms tornadoes. More than 500 tornadoes typically occur in this area every year and is why it is commonly known as "Tornado Alley."
John Fanzini Scientists predict hurricanes by satellites. They can track hurricanes very well. The can track where its coming from. They can also track the wind speed. They also predict them because of the seasonal probabilities. They can predicts hurricanes 3-5 days before it happens. The satellites show them how big it is. With that they can tell when its coming in. 3-5 days is enough time to warn the area when the hurricanes are coming and how strong they will be.
