Regulation 22:

Why? To ensure that children have daily outdoor play in a safe environment.

It’s important to have daily outdoor play because children need fresh air to reset their mind. To have space to be free, run around with their friends and helps them with both fine and gross motor skills. Examples of that is with fine motor skills is looking for insects, getting flowers and other plants. For gross motor skills is walking, running and jumping all over.

During summer we can go for walks around the town not far from the daycare, have circle time outside and snack time if it’s not too hot for the kids. Sometimes we are out most of the day.

During fall we go out berry picking at the blueberry hill or on the prince river road. We go to the elders cabin to get away from the daycare for a bit.

During winter is quite difficult due to weather but we go outside for at least 10-15 minutes, if there’s no wind we stay outside a little longer.

~Shania

Why is it Important ~ the developmental domain for the children is healthy to explore the outside world we live in, the scenery they don’t see daily is good for the growing mind. We can do many different fun outdoor play such as go sliding on the hill as walking up the hill is good exercise. If the snow condition is great we can build a snowman. Going for a walk is another way to explore the scenery, looking at the birds and imitate the sound they make or look for animal tracks on the side of the road.

Why: Community facilities and service are very useful in our community such as water and sewage services. If we didn’t have the services we would have to fetch water everyday and use disposable toilets so we are so lucky to have water and sewage plants in our communities.

What it means: for me i could say we are spoiled these days, we just have to wait for us to get watered or sewage delivered or even garbage trucks are very useful. Back then they didn’t have any of those so we should be thankful to have facilities and services in the communities.

How: we just have to call the hamlet to get water or sewage and garbage pick up to get service. They are always on the road from 8:00 to 5:00 sometimes they worked during evenings too, they are always on the road during weekends.

-Annie
