Students should be challenge on a daily basis to engage the minds of all students in a classroom. I'm a firm believer that student should learn something new everyday he/she goes to school. I would engage them in group activities that promote friendly competition and using computers to demonstrate lesson are a smart board.

Jarolyn Javier
My thoughts on inclusive education are very self explanatory in terms of how we live. If we walk on the same side of the streets we can be educated in the same classroom. We aren't divided physically in our society so we must learn to be together and work together. If we keep students with disabilities self-contained, it is only a disservice to them because the reality is that once they are out of school they are left with out the knowledge and the importance of human relation, the how to interact with society because they have been kept away. Additionally, keeping students with disabilities contained is inhuman, we will always have human interaction and what better place to teach it to individuals than in school.
One thing you must know about me is, when I was asked as a child what I wanted to be when I grow up, I said, "a mother." When I was asked again a month before graduating from kindergarten I said, "a teacher." Today 23 years later I see how both jobs are extremely similar if not exactly the same.
My childhood dreams became my adulthood reality.

As a special educator the purpose of a inclusion classroom setting is to ensure that all students regardless of their academic strengths or weakness receives the support needed in order to be successful. Inclusion classrooms creates an atmosphere where all students can learn from each other and learn effectively and it increases student engagement.
The one thing you must absolutely know about me is that I tend to procrastinate. This is a flaw that I am working diligently to overcome.

Inclusion is important because it teaches students that everyone can learn we just may use a different path to get there.
This summer I developed a strong passion for hiking, so I will try to go on a hike once a month this year as a treat to myself.

Greetings! My name is LaTasha Anderson and I'm currently a Teaching Fellow on track to earn a SPED General Education 7-12 certification. I think inclusive instruction is a system that should have been driving education since the beginning. Everyone, whether diagnosed with a disability or not, learns differently. Students in the general population also benefit from techniques used to scaffold instruction. I think that the more access teachers create for their students, the better students will be able to perform academically.

I didn't have the time/resources this summer, but I am looking forward to taking a few trips throughout this year and the years to come. I'm looking forward to hearing more from all of you! :)

Hi! My name is Carlos Blanco. I believe that Inclusive Education provides many benefits for both children with disabilities and children without disabilities. In the real world, we work and live along side all different types of people and our classroom should reflect the real world. Our children are best served when they learn with different types of learning. Accepting others that are different also builds tolerance which benefits our communities and our society as a whole. That said, I do believe that some students with disabilities require and benefit from more controlled learning environments where they can receive greater individualized attention. I feel we need to look at each special need student individually and provide them with the learning environment that will best help them meet their educational goals, keeping all options open in the process. One thing you should know about me is that I love to spend time with my family! Here is a picture of us having a good time biking in Lake George this weekend. Looking forward to this class and I'm happy to see many of my classmates from last semester here.

Hello there! My name is Cecelia (Gross) Cabbell. Where and how should students with disabilities be educated? Where: wherever would be best for that individual child. If they benefit more from an inclusive classroom with select amounts of differentiation, then that's where we should teach them. But if they benefit more from a smaller class or one-on-one instruction then we should do that. Each student is different with different needs and the ideal environment looks different for each child. How: to the best of our ability. We should take into consideration what are you student struggles with and adapt our lesson accordingly. We should also be careful not to coddle the student but to hold them accountable for the work just like any other student.
About me: I am a NYC teaching fellow, Bronx cohort. I love music and I love to sing! In addition to teaching math and science I would love to work with the music department in my new school. The pic below is from my 1st classroom experience as a 2-month sub at a Christian school in Freeport (May 2017). Could have used these classes back then! Lol

Hello!

I hope everyone had a chance to relax after our long summer and is ready for our first year as teachers! I am going to be teaching self contained science to 7th and 8th graders this year! I am excited and nervous to say the least but looking forward to learning something new each and everyday!
Inclusive Education was a true game changer to the world of education and I am a firm believer that each and every student benefits from the additional support in the classroom because every student has special needs. I was actually in an inclusive classroom when I entered middle school and I remember one of my best friends from elementary school who was in the class with me to start the year, was taken out because her mom didn't think she would learn in that environment. Its funny because the experience I had in the classroom made me what I want to be a special needs teacher today.

One interesting fact : I am starting a developmental volleyball program at my school this year!

Hello class - My name is Giancarlo Marotti. I know some of you from this summer and it's great to be alongside you again. The purpose of inclusion is to create a learning enviornment that is conducive to a range of abilities and academic strengths/weaknesses. Inclusion is demonstrated by the providing the least restrictive environment for students, meaning that they are placed in the highest level classroom setting possible while still meeting the needs of the student. This involves the use of student aids, para-professionals, ENL teachers or ICT classrooms.
