Getting ready for the Olympics, there will be a discussion in a small hut right on the border. The massive increase in stock points in a short amount of time. Recent tax reforms are making business growth easier and larger companies are raking in more profit. I think the story about the revival of communication between North and South Korea is the most interesting to me. In preparation for the upcoming Olympics, the two warring regions come together at their borders to have the first discussion in years. Hopefully, the relations between these two regions is brought back eventually. With recent battle simulations executed by Russia on European ground, worries begin to come up about how Russias military program is slowly surpassing Britans. Talk of Russias cyber warfare capabilities rises new issues on how defense measures for a possible attack will go with money cuts occurring to the program. The question of where the money for the defense measures is going has come up a lot recently. Gen Carter says, "Potential military threats to the UK are now on Europe's doorstep." When looking at the issue on a larger scale you would notice that if a military altercation were to occur Britain would not be alone and the NATO, which Britan is a part of, would totally outmatch Russian forces. Ballistic missile technology is becoming more of a threat to countries with violent intents. Allying nations are helping each other develop better missile technology. I believe that this shows both positive and negative sides of globalization. If you consider the negative side of the story you see that because of historical rivalries between nations there is a possibility of another large-scale war which could cause a ridiculous amount of damage to the world. The Taliban are killing many people, up to 100,000 in one month. On top of the issues caused by the Taliban, you have ISIS who is also operating in Afganistan. The US has had troops there for a long time who are working on stopping this problem and getting the Taliban and ISIS out of there. The bomb squad is seen downtown in Hong Kong working around the clock to defuse bombs that were left over from WWII. The bombs are proven to be of American design and are standard issue airplane bombs. This shows the negative effects of globalization because past altercations between countries have turned up still causing a threat to people today. Civilians are suffering and not enough is being done to help them. Closing the waters is not just a problem for Yemen but a large percentage of other countries around the world because it is a popular passage for other ships. Precautions are being taken to keep the flu out of security checks and bedrooms. Many of the security guards had to be taken away because of the virus so South Korea sent out about 900 of its military soldiers to guard the Olympics.
