The Mid Autumn Festival is celebrated on the
15th day of the 8th month on the Chinese
calendar.
To say 'Happy Mid-Autumn Festival' you would say 'Zhongqiu Kuaile' in Chinese characters '中秋快乐'.
This occasion is the second most important festival after the Chinese New Year.
On this very special they eat Moon Cake, Pumpkin's, RIver Snails, Tora and Duck's.
In this tradition they will make laterns and gaze at the moon.
Long, long ago on this day there were three immortal's who came down from heaven to earth.
They asked a fox, a monkey and a rabbit to find them food.
Both the fox and monkey returned with food but the rabbit did not. The rabbit felt sorry for the three immortals so he threw himself into the fire and told them to eat him.
The three of them were deeply moved by the rabbits action so from that day on they called him the 'Jade Rabbit' and the legend was contiued to be told.

A poem that is told on this special day is called Thoughts in the Silent Night 静夜思
