The piano shows the symbol of the piano that is shown throughout the play. The piano is representative of Hedda's conformity, although the green fingerprint on the one key is demonstrative of Hedda's control over specific people's lives throughout the play - the green being symbolic of life, and the fingerprint being the mark that Hedda leaves on many lives, for better or worse. Hadeel Abu-Gabler is faced with many of the same societal expectations but she must also fight back against the unjust occupation of her land. Through my design, I have represented communities that are otherwise secluded based on religion, sex, culture, or gender. Using the stereotypes often associated with these communities as a combination, I have created a powerful, independent individual who contrasts norms at every point which I feel accurately depicts what henry iksen intended when he wrote this fabulous play.

Using the symbol of a puppeteer; controlling and manipulating those she feels are weak in how they control their life (or, how they do not). In my image I have drawn Mrs. Elvsted and Tesman as the characters she is controlling through strings. Hedda is able to find ease in locating points of weakness in both of their characters, Mrs Elvsted indirect confusion with the direction of her life, and Tesman lacking wit and sharpness.
